Most shoestring commercial online news operations I’ve worked on rely on the author to do most traditional ‘subbing’ – proofing is a minimal check for typos and utter stupidity. Tim adds: Yes, they’ve got real subs. Not quite to newspaper levels, but more than just shoestring. And El Reg isn’t really shoestring either. They pay real amounts of money. £250 per thousand which in today’s market really ain’t that bad at all. OK, it’s more like a flat £50 for a rewrite of a news piece, but then again that’s better than most local papers. Leave a Reply Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
