Reviewing a Barry Manilow concert

Anyway, it was all over in about 90 minutes, and I can honestly say that it was not the worst 90 minutes of my life, because I have had a colonoscopy.

Yeah but they give you really good drugs for a colonoscopy. I doubt anyone at Manilow’s concert had any.

I have to undergo a regular colonoscopy and can assure that even if there are really good drugs they aren’t used. When I had my last one which was extremely painful I complained to the consultant that it was a lot worse than last time and was informed that they had been told by anaesthetists to reduce the amount of pain killers.

Anyway, even with pain killers I can assure you that it is a very unpleasant experience.

SimonF – “I have to undergo a regular colonoscopy and can assure that even if there are really good drugs they aren’t used.”

Really? Why is the NHS so tight with the good drugs? The people I know who have had one recently have been 1. zoned out for the entire day, or 2. utterly unconscious for 15 minutes, or 3. mellow enough for the procedure that they did not feel a thing.

  4. SMFS,

D’now – but my last one was during Gordon’s vote for me splurge so I’m not going with budget cuts.

  5. Interesting review of Mr Manilow’s warblings. Somehow I can’t bring myself to tell the reviewer the problem with the one saving grace that sustained him – that Manilow wrote the song “Mandy”. OK, yes I can, he didn’t write it. It was originally called “Brandy” and was adapted by Mr Manilow. I could look up the writer but can’t be bothered.

I was also dragged to a Barry Manilow concert by a most insistant female and I have to say he puts on a splendid show, or he did 20-odd years ago. Since then I’ve resisted the temptation.
