  1. He said the UK Government has failed to protect the country against these price shocks by encouraging farmers to grow our own fruit and vegetables or produce meat

    The funny thing is, I completely misread this sentence at first glance. To me it sounded as if he was blaming the price shocks on localism, that the encouragement of local production was the problem. Louise Gray and her editor should hang their heads in shame for their lack of basic English alone.

    Maybe that interpretation just made more sense to me.
