I hadn\’t realised it could all happen so quickly

Ended up at this wikipedia page. The last executions in England.

The murder was on 7 April 1964. The executions were on 13 August 1964.

Is there actually anything that works this quickly in our current legal system?

  1. Surreptitious Evil

Motoring offences with a standard fine. Because there’s a financial benefit to have those work effectively!

  2. The answer, Tim, is “yes”, but it’s fairly inconceivable that a murderer would, within that space of time, have his trial, be convicted and sentenced.
