Mailygraph is a good term, but that’s more the “turned from best foreign-correspondent newspaper in the country with the news pages fairly unslanted” into “a nasty little rag with no more reporters than the Indy that cuts, pastes and slants wires” bit that the Barclays have done (aka “the murder”).
