Heterosexual Pride Day

Sao Paulo council calls for Heterosexual Pride Day

Someone was always going to do this, weren\’t they?

Rentaquotes are out:

The Brazilian Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Association criticised the legislation, saying it could provoke homophobic violence. ……..\”How many LGBTs will be attacked because of the message that only heterosexuality makes someone a moral person and a good citizen,\” the association said in a statement.

\”The celebration of heterosexual pride is inappropriate because it belittles the just cause of the LGBT community,\” the statement added.

Group A celebrating being Group A does not belittle Group B: it doesn\’t if Group A are Teh Gayers anyway, so why it should if Group A is the heteros I\’m not sure.

Still, good date for it:

to be celebrated on the third Sunday of each December.

Around and about the sort of time we celebrate a birth isn\’t it? A fairly hetero sort of thing despite the folk tales about the sex with a ghost stuff.

  1. Silly Tim. Things like celebrating identity, and indeed, freedom of association, are for protected minorities. When boring old heteros and/or white guys do it, it’s oppressive and hegemonic and just plain wrong.

David Thompson’s blog had a hilarious story about the annual feminist festival in the US that’s been battling for 20 years to keep out transexuals. Frankfurt School inspired radicals don’t ‘do’ irony or self-awareness.
