  1. So Much For Subtlety

Not that socialised medicine leads to Death Panels or anything. You would have to be an inbred moronic hick like Sarah Palin to believe that.

  2. The text of the article says “doctors discussed plans with relations in 94 per cent of cases”. I suppose 6% is “up to half”.

The Liverpool Care Pathway is for patients who are dying. No amount of privatization will make us immortal.

What makes you think Palin is inbred?

  3. The ‘up to half’ claim is based on a single hospital. A single hospital! You might as well pick yourself a family which wasn’t told and say up to 100% of families. That’s not statistics: the sub-editor is a damned liar.

  4. Should the relatives be informed?
My mother (doctor, daughter of a doctor) had to sign a lot of DNR forms when my grandmother was in her last days. She found it distressing, knowing perfectly well my grandmother’s wishes which had not been written down.
I was later surprised to find that she herself had kept a “please do not resuscitate” note in her handbag for years without telling us. Though she did occasionally say that she didn’t want to become a bed-blocker.
    Each to his own.

Well, no. But if the privatised hospitals starved and dehydrated their patients to death (because that’s what the quaintly named procedure does) without informing their loved ones, I think the Left would be all over it…

And SMFS uses the term ‘inbred’ because it’s a term the left use against Palin.
