But everyone knows those who go into public service are pure as driven snow. While those who chase filthy lucre are Satan’s children.
Besides, accepting that public officials could act in their own interests and contrary to ours would simply destroy any childish notions of socialism they might have. So they will refuse to do so until they grow up and become Tories.
