Sunny deploys the tu quoque

And yes, the tu quoque is indeed a logical fallacy.

But some of the criticism is unfair.First, the Conservatives and Ukip are far more scientifically illiterate than the Greens. They are actively trying to sabotage the debate on how to deal with climate change, and most deny it is even taking place.

The tu quoque is also described as the \”Yah! Boo! Sucks! You do it too!\” argument.

And the reason it\’s a logical fallacy is because it has absolutely nothing at all to do with the subject at hand. GM crops are one question over here. Adapatation to versus reduction of climate change is another one over here. Each such question needs to be dealt with on the evidence available to deal with that question.

And as to Ukip being more scientifically illiterate than the Greens: I\’ll happily stand up my knowledge on, say, climate change against say, Caroline Lucas\’.

  1. So Much For Subtlety

What do you mean climate change? I would take bets on your knowledge of Elizabethan love poetry compared to hers. Even if she did a PhD in it. And anything in between.

Besides, Monckton is one of your isn’t he? He may be a little weird, but on climate change he has been doing better than the real scientists. There is no comparison with the Greens.

  2. Interestingly, thus far the word “denier” only appears once in the comments. I think the debate may have been quietly won.
