  1. Interesting. But if they prepare, because they know they will be peers, aren’t we back to professional politicians?

    If you’re into Athenian government, how about their tax system? The richest citizens had to pay for trieremes and theatrical productions – one rich citizen per ship or play. You could be captain or producer if you wanted, but most paid someone else. You got the glory of sponsoring the ship/play.

    If you thought someone else was richer and should pay, then you said “Worstall is richer – he should pay.” Worstall has a choice – he can pay, or he has to swap assets with you.

    Would you like to introduce that, along with sortition?
