  1. If you look at the cost of airfares before and after Open Skies was introduced, the differences were huge. My boss paid over £300 in the early 90s to fly to Brussels.

    You just have to look at the savings they’re finding at Hinchinbroke.

  2. You forget to mention that the LSE report found that whereas competition between NHS hospitals improves productivity, competition with the private sector does not, because the NHS ends up with the patients who are expensive to treat.

    Tim A: I’d like to look at the savings they’re finding at Hinchingbrooke. But the only detail they’ve given is that they’ve saved £1.6m on paper stationery. Which is obviously impossible.
