A Conservative MP and his wife groped their lesbian housekeeper and propositioned her with a threesome, it is alleged.
But isn\’t it appallingly dreary?
And so declassee as well. There was a time when the upper classes fucked each other rather than the staff.
I see that the Torygraph is still trying to keep up its reputation for the raciest Page 3 on Fleet Street (or whatever the equivalent is these days)
Are MPs still considered upper class? I certainly wouldn’t consider a backbencher as upper class. Base salary is £65k; extras include housing allowance and an amazingly good pension scheme; but job security is uncertain. Add it all up and they’re no better off than a GP. Certainly not upper class.
Are MPs still considered upper class?
Most definitely so. The route to becoming an MP usually goes: Prep School > Private School > Oxbridge > Research Position Secured by Daddy’s Friends > MP
Middle and lower class folk simply don’t take this route to their careers. Class has nothing to do with wealth, something Kate Fox made pretty clear in her highly enjoyable book Watching the English.
The upper classes have always fucked the staff.
She considered suicide? Just how repulsive is this MP?

….She considered suicide. Just how repulsive is this MP…….
I can think of a rather large Tory Mr P, with whom I would not wish to share a jar of vinegar.
seconding Peter Risdon @ #4 assuming he means it literally and isn’t making a quasi-socialist pun.
Though there is a difference. Fucking your social equals is either good fun or an affair, depending on how intense the relationship. Fucking the staff is droit de seigneur. Or occasionally, in the case of the middle-aged frumpy cook, a tiresome piece of nobless oblige.
“There was a time when the upper classes fucked each other rather than the staff.”
ITYM “as well as” not “rather than”.
The staff didn’t get a lot of options, though; what’s changed is that she now has the right to sue.
@ Richard Gadsden
NO, not “as well as”.
The Norman followers of William the Bastard thought they had the “Droit de Seigneur”; this disappeared long before the licentious post-1660 era.
Byron’s behaviour in that he did both was considered disgraceful.
sam – “Though there is a difference. Fucking your social equals is either good fun or an affair, depending on how intense the relationship. Fucking the staff is droit de seigneur.”
How does one classify someone like Karl Marx then given he managed to bag a nice piece of Totty – her brother was Bismark’s Prussian Minister of the Interior – while also exercising what pathetic little rights of droit de seigneur he had by getting his maid pregnant?
But like most Leftists he was enough of a scumbag to make Engels take the blame.
