Which is interesting as all you need is out there on the net, which is one of the main points of… blogging!
Any ticket buyer should be automatically excluded as having failed at the first test.
Maybe it’s post-modernist or something?
Ah! Socialists!
Whore they’re own granny if if they knew where she was buried.
It’s a fantastic way to master the basics, with plenty of opportunities to share ideas with other beginners in a vibrant, sociable environment.
The word “vibrant” is like a Masonic handshake between idiots.
I love the credentials that are listed for the tutor.
So what is important in Guardian blogger land is that the tutor’s skills include post positive mentality. Nothing about actually knowing stuff about wordpress (which if even Tim can handle, then anyone can) or how to SEO your blog to the max (you don’t, you do it for the love).
As for being a no#1 blog in a very small niche, dead easy. However my blog (which I don’t have much time to write on at the moment) ranks better than one of his on Alexa.com.
Well, it’s the Guardian’s Clutching at Straws Finance Department: they’ve got get some income from somewhere. Slightly cannibalistic, but the liberal elite must prevail. Oh yes.
Er, what is a ‘post-positive’ mentality?
Is it the same as letting anybody stick any old rubbish on the blog?
It’s just the mindset of the liberal left – they can’t do anything unless they’ve taken a course and, no doubt, a piece of paper to prove it.
Hmm. I might have to put my fees up. I’ve been charging fifty quid an hour for basically the same thing as one-to-one tuition.
BenSix,
Thank you for that lovely quote:-
And we know that ‘vibrant atmosphere’ is code for the same pleasure we had in the canteen of the special school we attended.
Perhaps Tim should go so he can finally get to grips with blogging software.
I reckon that it’s a quid for the bloggining instruction and 348 quid for the lowdown on moderation. 🙂
This whole thread is full of win.
We shouldn’t laugh. What’s the betting most of the attendees will be there on the taxpayers’ ticket?
Be fair, at least they’re not running courses on journalism.
John Price,

It’s quite a smart move, I think.
There have always been dreamers, but the people who make the money aren’t the dreamers, they’re the people who supply to the dreamers. 4% of people in the Klondike found gold, but they all needed transportation, accomodation and equipment
And if any newspaper has the biggest share of “I’ve got a book in me” fantasists, it’s the Guardian.
incidentally, Tim’s blog is proof that a UI designer isn’t exactly the person you need to teach you how to make a successful blog.
Tim Amlond-
Interesting tangential observation- the Klondike economy seems to stand as proof that money printing for stimulus doesn’t work. You get a boom (for the few closest to the new money) while new money is being created, but as soon as the money creation ceases, the boom collapses and no productive investment has occurred. Everyone just fucks off in search of the next strike.
Ian B,
Not sure I see the parallel, although there’s definitely a thing of people jumping out after a boom collapses.
Well Tim, one way to put what I’m thinking is that pumping new money into an economy (if we observe the gold rushes) doesn’t produce an expanded, sustainable economic infrastructure base.
Ian B,
Yes, I quite agree.
