Spot on, Tim. Trouble is, the British have been trained to believe that nationalisation and tax funding are the same thing. Every time I talk about wanting rid of the NHS, I have to explain this from scratch, as people genuinely believe that any move away from centralised control must necessarily mean complete privatisation. That’s the really big problem with the NHS: its own PR has been so successful that significant change is politically impossible.
