Breaking news: Paul Ehrlich still wrong about population

  1. Is there anything he ever hasn’t been wrong about? I imagine him walking around all day saying things like, “you make cheese by boiling milk” and “mankind evolved from shrews in Canada” and “geese are a type of fish” and so on.

  2. “you make cheese by boiling milk” ….and there you have Ricotta, Mozzarella, Haloumi, etc., etc..

Otherwise, even for this pedant, your point stands.

  3. Is Ehrlich still around? Haven’t he and his missus and all their acolytes done the decent thing and ceased being a burden on poor Gaia?

Oh well, I’m sure it will be soon.

  4. Paul Ehrlich has never been right. Weren’t we supposed to have been reduced to cannibalism by the eighties? Miserable git.

  5. And all because he had a funny turn in intense heat among the crowded streets of India.

If a ‘right-wing’ writer had written his description of that Indian scene he would have been denounced as a racist (absurdly, but still denounced).

  6. Genuine question: has there ever been a ‘serious’ thinker who has been more wrong, consistently and always, as Ehrlich has? Has he ever woken up and thought “oh fuck, what a total balls-up” and been mortally embarassed?

    Seriously? ‘Pedant’? On this blog?

Rob: P. J. O’Rourke said environmentalism was the safe way for progressives to be racists (in an essay called Just Enough of Me, Way Too Much of You).
