Timmy elsewhere

At the ASI.

That idiot Suzanne Moore seems to think that vaccine pricing is a free market issue.

I put her right.

A market with only one potential customer is not exactly free either.

A question from a bit of a technophobe: I know a number of.people working in the NHS – Facebook friends – who need to see this. How do I go about placing the ASI article as a Facebook status update?

Hit the Facebook Like button at the bottom of the article?

If you don’t give a shit about future vaccines it all works out rather well. Confiscate now, blame selfish drug companies later for lack of vaccines. It’s all about laying blame and pointing the finger. The more problems there are, the more opportunities.

Best bit is when she tells us you can get it privately for 75 quid. Hardly a fortune to protect you child is it?

Rob,

Exactly. All of this “why should drug companies” make money only works in the very short term.

And why doesn’t this apply to doctors and nurses? Shouldn’t they be cutting their salaries to bread and water rations and living in a tiny house? How dare they make a profit on their labour!

@Dongguan John – but, buy, but THINK OF THE CHEEEEELDREN!

After all, £75 buys a lot of Stella and fags…

Rob, it’s the same principle as the Venezuela bog roll shortage. Tell people they can sell their product only at a loss and then wonder why there is no more product, blaming everyone but themselves.

I’m amazed that some (supposedly educated) people still can’t figure this out.

Ironman,

Simply copy the page’s full address from the address bar and paste it into a Facebook status update. Then add whatever blurb you want. Facebook will (usually) automatically grab the headline and image for you.

BlokeonaMotorway,

Clicking a ‘Like’ button doesn’t make the page into a status update. Is there a ‘Share’ button on the page (can’t tell from here)? That would do it.

in related news it seems her mate Ed might just try to make them hand their profits back…. http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2015/mar/27/ed-miliband-vows-labour-would-cap-profits-of-private-health-companies

“I’m amazed that some (supposedly educated) people still can’t figure this out.”

They have obviously figured it out. A six year old child would figure this out. Their motives are far darker and deeper.

Thanks, I’ll try it.

No, there isn’t a ‘share’ button, I looked for that first.

P.S. The Venezuelan bog roll analogy is spot on.

In which case you have to wonder how someone who almost lost their child to a now preventable illness can be so fucked up.

Just a few hours ago I rushed my pregnant girlfriend to hospital because we thought she was misscarrying. Thankfully all is ok. So anyway I’m a little touchy on these things right now!

SQ2 – yeah, posted then went out to walk the dog. Realised probably not what was needed after a while.

“Tell people they can sell their product only at a loss”
Fortunately Ed (as we call our Leader) has a Bigger Strategic Vision than that. He will allow them to make a 5% profit, which is more than adequate.

Sue, Ed is clearly a neoliberal troll who will shortly be deleted.

With Ed allowing companies to make a 5% profit he also shows us how far he is prepared to go with taxing the rich. 95% tax, here we come, back to 1950s.

“there is something utterly immoral about the market holding the NHS and the sick to ransom”
Perhaps if she tried to nail down what exactly was immoral Susanne would see it ain’t so easy.
I welled up at the story, but I think the real conclusion here is that there is something utterly amoral about the market.
That and the fact that this isn’t a free market as Tim says.
