A village council has been rocked by bitter disagreement over what they should “like” on Facebook – despite just 59 people following the page.
In a bizarre row reminiscent of a Vicar of Dibley sketch, the seemingly innocuous choices of what to “like” on the official Facebook page of Llangunnor Community Council in Carmarthenshire, West Wales, have led to a council wide spat.
The council “likes” a selection of local services, schools and council initiatives.
However the “liking” of a local equine centre proved particularly controversial with one councillor repeatedly shouting “I don’t even like horses” at a council meeting.
Other councillors disagreed with the choices and argued that they should all get a say in who the council endorses.
During a heated council meeting, local councillor Sandra Thomas, asked: “Why are only three councillors deciding what we as a council “like” on Facebook? We should all be involved.”
Then again, you can usually get an argument going in Wales merely by wondering whether water is wet or not.
