Isn’t this such excellent news?

Up to 750,000 men living in Britain may have an interest in having sex with children, the Government has been warned.
A shocking analysis by the National Crime Agency reveals that about one in 35 adult males poses a potential risk of being a child abuser or of seeking out child sex images online.
Horrifically, as many as 250,000 men may be sexually attracted to pre-pubescent children – defined as those under 12 – according to the findings disclosed exclusively to The Mail on Sunday.

Given that the actual incidence of paedophilia is very, very, much lower than this it means that pretty much everyone who has such urges is able to keep them under control.

Which is good news, no?

Or, of course, we might just think that the estimate is bollocks but government wouldn’t feed us incorrect figures, would it?

  1. I detect the world famous National Guesswork Authority (PLC) at work here. You have to wonder what sort of numpty’s are on the payroll of the NCA. Wouldn’t be the same loony tunes who persuaded the authorities that Satanic ritual child abuse was endemic in the Orkney’s and all points south?

  2. So Much for Subtlety

Of course they are simply pulling figures out of their ar$e to continue to smear heterosexual men.

Some people should finish their careers at the end of a length of hempen rope.

Unless we have had lot more immigration from Japan than reported.

  3. There’s also something else about these sort of statistics, which I first considered when I read about the prevalence of drug use. At some point, if something deemed unacceptable to society (and thus unlawful) is practiced by a certain percentage (or certain absolute number) then obviously that thing is not unacceptable in society and thus should be legalized. Assuming the figures are true (which is a big assumption) would 750k adult males not be pushing the argument that this should be legalized? There’s obviously a demand for it. I suspect if this argument was put forward, we’d find this 750k number would drop quite considerably.

  4. So Much for Subtlety

Gormley admits child sex abuse has not been ‘centre stage of policy’ for most of his three decades in policing, but says there have been huge steps forward in the past two years. When the National Crime Agency was established to confront organised crime in October 2013, it had fewer than ten cases of child abuse. Today it is investigating more than 150, with 300 dedicated detectives in its child protection unit.

So in the middle of a paedophile hysteria, they have all of 150 cases? And from that they guess there are three quarters of a million of them? Like that isn’t bullsh!t.

Already if a person searches for up to 1,000-word combinations on Google a warning of illegality pops up with details of help available.

It was triggered a worrying three million times last year.

This seems to be the origin of their claims. They have a 1000 words on their warning list and if you google for them you will get a warning. So suppose you want to find someone to make a made-to-measure school uniform in your area. You google, “price”, “custom”, “schoolgirl”, “uniform”. Want to bet you are now classed, or at least counted, as a paedophile?

What this country needs is members of an old and dying profession. It consisted of asking basic questions about informed acquired by simple research. It was called journalism.

  5. Machiavelli: ‘You have to wonder what sort of numpty’s are on the payroll of the NCA.’

The same ones that were on the payroll of SOCA (remember them?) which dissolved to form the NCA.

  6. Does that mean that when you get introduced to a 15 year old who is as well-developed as some 17 year olds that you’re now a perv?

I was introduced by someone to their well-developed 15 year old daughter in a bikini on holiday and my first thought in my brain was “shag”. That’s pretty rapidly overtaken by more rational thoughts of the reality of it, the consequences of going for it etc but I’m not denying it’s there. Nor do I think there’s anything wrong with it.

The age of consent isn’t about being a perv. It’s about letting girls reach emotional maturity before blokes start hitting on them.

  7. More than a million men in Britain follow a religious leader who had sex with a 9 year old, and that he was a model to follow. That is the real concern.

  8. I’m sure those numbers are several times larger than they were about a year ago, when they published something similar. As I recall, it was about the time their budget was being considered.
“300 dedicated detectives” can’t be cheap, especially if they are indeed reserved for this one task. (It must be a bit soul-destroying.) Even if they are looking at more than 150, that’s about 2:1, so even the lower 250,000 is going to require significant expansion. How long does it take to train a detective?

  9. Looks like a classic ass-pull.

Strangely missing is an estimate of how many female teachers have lewd interest in their students. Interesting little example recently; the other day it was reported that a lesbian teacher had been suspended for a relationship with a fifteen year old. Not prosecuted though, since charges not pressed by the girl or her parents. Compare that to “Jeremy Forrest, evil padeophile”. The women never seem to be paedophiles for some reason, just “inappropriate”.

  10. When you dig deep enough into claims like this, you always find some sort of automated computer process blindly adding shit up (like here) or a massive and inappropriate extrapolation from a tiny set of already dubious results.

    But, Science.

  11. Or, indeed, a completely rigged computer model which is nevertheless treated as more real than actual Reality.

  12. So Much for Subtlety

anon – “More than a million men in Britain follow a religious leader who had sex with a 9 year old, and that he was a model to follow. That is the real concern.”

Good thing you chose to post anonymously or Ironman would be along in a second to accuse you of racism for daring to say that there is any connection between what Islamic law glorifies and what Muslims do.

Ian B – “the other day it was reported that a lesbian teacher had been suspended for a relationship with a fifteen year old. Not prosecuted though, since charges not pressed by the girl or her parents.”

Well maybe the 250,000 figure is about right then. After all, how many people here are actually NOT thinking of some hot lesbian teacher (Charlotte Rampling perhaps?) on teenage jail bait student (Ludivine Sagnier anyone?) action?

Which would explain why she didn’t get any jail time. The legal system is clearly rife with paedophiles. We need to send Ironman in to thoroughly clean these institutions up!

  13. Made -up numbers to justify ever-increasing state interference in people’s lives. An increasing (real) number of people have their children taken away because this.

And of course, once in the loving arms of the state, a child is at far greater risk of sexual abuse.

    Cunts.

  14. “…as many as 250,000 men may be sexually attracted to pre-pubescent children – defined as those under 12”

And there was I thinking that the definition of pre-pubescent children would be those that had yet to reach puberty.

  15. With 300 detectives investigating these things it must, of course, mean that some of them are suspect. Then factor in accessibility of material. Could that draw more potential child abusers and paedos into their ranks?

Disband them now! They are a clear and present danger to potential children.

  16. SMFS,

“What this country needs is members of an old and dying profession. It consisted of asking basic questions about informed acquired by simple research. It was called journalism.”

I’m not sure if they were ever much cop. I think the modern era of social media, blogging and so forth has exposed how rubbish most journalism is. It’s let a lot of very good part-timers come along who have more expertise and can take apart what’s in the papers.

  17. Well, part of the essential problem with “the news” is speed. If you take even a day checking something out, let alone longer researching it properly, you’re late with “the news” and behind your competitors, so it’s always printed any old shit if it makes a headline.

Nowadays that’s even more intense with the internet, since it’s instantaneous rather than even having the wait for the next print edition.

  18. Oi, Tim Newman, what’s happened to your webiste?

    “Site Not Found
Well, this is awkward. The site you’re looking for is not here.”

    Hrrrmphm.

  19. I’d imagine 750,000 men living in Britain have an interest in driving a Ferrari. Quite a lot of them will have Googled Testarossa or Mondial. I wouldn’t take that as implying Maranello Concessions should take on more sales staff.

  20. Bloke in Costa Rica

One in 35 men have paedophilic urges? 2.9%? So about the fraction* that are homosexual, and likely a bit more? As Tim Newman adumbrates, if one is normal and to be celebrated, then why not the other? How to square the circle? The answer is, natürlich, that the 750,000 nonces figure is witless, fantastical shit of the first order and should be laughed to scorn along with its proponents.

    * I mean the real fraction, not the propaganda version

  21. At 36 my dad married my mom, then 16, and they were married till death. They raised 4 boys, I had no sisters, through college with, at minimum, master’s degrees, in engineering and/or mathematics.

We were all spoiled with care by most definitions, and generally happy & successful.

Even when my mom was quite old, my dad frequently commented on how pretty she was and one could tell he was sincere. Governments should leave people alone.

  22. Looks like SMBS is into custom schoolgirl uniforms. He’s obviously thought about this, or has personal experience of the search terms that trigger Theresa May’s google perv filter. Surely buxom ladies dressed as squirrels are a much healthier fetish?

  23. The problem is that the people disseminating this crap have an IQ lower than the people they think they are fooling.

  24. So Much for Subtlety

Bloke in Costa Rica – “As Tim Newman adumbrates, if one is normal and to be celebrated, then why not the other? How to square the circle?”

As many people into children as there might be, there are a lot more parents. The Gay lobby is only winning on things like adoption because they are all playing down their leather bondage shorts thing – as well as their oft expressed preferences for shagging anything that moves, legalising sex with children and so on. When they were out there and showing normal people what the Gay lifestyle was like, most people did not support things like them adopting children. Which is not surprising really.

Bloke in Germany – “Looks like SMBS is into custom schoolgirl uniforms. He’s obviously thought about this, or has personal experience of the search terms that trigger Theresa May’s google perv filter.”

Well they have to be custom because you can’t buy my size off the peg. It is tragic that society just doesn’t understand. And here you are, microaggressing me. It is just so sad that society can’t stop oppressing me.

“Surely buxom ladies dressed as squirrels are a much healthier fetish?”

Yeah but as I often say, why not both?

  25. I shamed my local school outfitters by going in and ordering a schoolgirl uniform; when they expressed concern and said they don’t do my size, I said that I am trans-age and trans-gender, and am in fact a 12 year old schoolgirl in a 49 year old man’s body. Also, lesbian and African. That soon got the apologies flowing.

  26. Bloke in Costa Rica

SMFS: oh no you don’t. I’m not being tarred with that brush. Most, i.e. the overwhelming majority, of gay men find paedophiles as vile as anyone else. If grown men want to dress up in leather shorts and find like-minded fellow adults to share in the fun, then more power to them. Most of them don’t. They’re as boring as straights.

  27. I feel genuinely very sorry for Harvey Proctor. He presumably thought his days of being witch hunted were over. Now they’re trying to fit him up for murder.

I wonder if anyone will dare squeak “corpus delicti?” in court.

It was far safer to be gay in the old days, wasn’t it?

  28. So Much for Subtlety

Bloke in Costa Rica – “Most, i.e. the overwhelming majority, of gay men find paedophiles as vile as anyone else.”

Well historically that is not what the record says. Peter Tatchell is on record calling for the age of consent being lowered to an age so low he wouldn’t specify. As he wrote to the Guardian:

The positive nature of some child-adult sexual relationships is not confined to non-Western cultures. Several of my friends – gay and straight, male and female – had sex with adults from the ages of nine to 13. None feel they were abused. All say it was their conscious choice and gave them great joy. While it may be impossible to condone paedophilia, it is time society acknowledged the truth that not all sex involving children is unwanted, abusive and harmful.

There is a vast body of work, not all from the 70s, by Gays calling for sex with children being legalised. What has been called paedophile chic. And the Gay community continues to recognise and even celebrate paedophiles as Gays. Pier Paolo Pasolini is the best example:

In October of the same year, Pasolini was charged with the corruption of minors and obscene acts in public places. As a result, he was expelled by the Udine section of the Communist Party and lost the teaching job he had obtained the previous year in Valvasone.

So he was fired as a school teacher for f**king his male students. In a public place. His sexual preferences don’t seem to have changed either:

In 1963 Pasolini met “the great love of his life,” fifteen-year-old Ninetto Davoli, whom he later cast in his 1966 film Uccellacci e uccellini (literally Bad Birds and Little Birds but translated in English as The Hawks and the Sparrows), Pasolini became the youth’s mentor and friend. “Even though their sexual relations lasted only a few years, Ninetto continued to live with Pasolini and was his constant companion, as well as appearing in six more of his films.”

Nothing is worse than chicken meat that grows up I guess.

Needless to say his death was at the hands of a teenage prostitute:

A Carabinieri squad car stopped a speeding Alfa Romeo near Rome. The driver, Giuseppe (Pino) Pelosi, a 17 year old hustler, tried to run but was arrested for theft of the car, which was Pasolini’s.

So what does the LGBT Encyclopedia say about him?

While openly gay from the very start of his career (thanks to a gay sex scandal that propelled him from his provincial hometown to live and work in Rome), Pasolini rarely dealt with homosexuality in his movies.

Predatory paedophile? No, of course not. He had talent and made some nice films. Apart from Salo. Therefore he has to be Gay. Being fired from teaching for being a sexual predator is apparently a Gay scandal.

The same with André Gide. That he was a predatory peadophile who attacked the children of his friends is well known. That he cruised the Third World abusing young boys is also well known:

In 1893 and 1894, Gide traveled in Northern Africa, and it was there that he came to accept his attraction to boys.

He befriended Oscar Wilde in Paris, and in 1895 Gide and Wilde met in Algiers. Wilde had the impression that he had introduced Gide to homosexuality, but, in fact, Gide had already discovered this on his own.

Literally two sentences next to each other. A love of Arab boys means he is homosexual. Not just Arabs though:

In 1916, Marc Allégret, only 15 years old, became his lover. Marc was the son of Elie Allégret, best man at Gide’s wedding. Of Allégret’s five children, Gide adopted Marc.

No harm in Gays adopting children is there?

*I* don’t insist that paedophiles are Gay men. The Gay community does. When it is not politically inconvenient. You draw a line between yourself and them and then I will take it seriously. The Gay community doesn’t, so I don’t.

If grown men want to dress up in leather shorts and find like-minded fellow adults to share in the fun, then more power to them.

By all means. My problem is when they start to lie about it. Playing down the nature of homosexuality has been a key political strategy in order for homosexuals to get their hands on small children.

Most of them don’t. They’re as boring as straights.

No they are not. Some of them might be but it is a small fraction. As the Gay community openly celebrates.

  29. SMFS

I’m not quite sure what you are trying to say here. You appear (it can be hard to tell) to be responding to Bloke in Costa Rica by arguing that homosexuals are more predicated towards paedophilia than others. However, your main example is Passolini and his love for a 15-year-old and a 17-year-old. I’m wondering if you are trying to antagonise your mate IanB.
For the avoidance of doubt, what exactly are you trying to say about Passolini?

  30. SMFS, I’m not quite sure what you are trying to say here.

“Most if not all gays want to get their hands on small children.”

Seemed quite clear what it was trying to say.

  31. Problem is his (very detailed) example. It was all about a film director’s enjoyment of the pleasures of late adolescents.

We can’t have it both ways. We can’t decry this and say it shows gays are paedo-pervs and then insist that fancying 15-year-old girls is fine and dandy.

So, SMFS or IanB, which way do you fancy jumping? (And which one of you fancies disappearing into thin air)

  32. Ironman-

SMFS is a conservative. I am a liberal populist. We disagree on many issues. I don’t know why you think we are supposed to be consistent with each other, unless you think that everyone you argue with (which is pretty much everybody it seems) are some kind of conspiracy.

Female teachers have been prosecuted and imprisoned in the UK for relationships with female pupils, there was such a case in September last year.

Victims and guardians don’t “press charges” in UK jurisdictions.

I just googled “female paedophile” and there were a number of results.

  34. IanB

Well you usually disagree with people in quite strident terms -UKLIBERTY is currently pointing this out.
However, here we have SMFS using attraction to a 15-year-old and a 17-year-old to support his claim that homosexuals are more predisposed to paedophilia than others and you choose to make Bo direct comment.
And that is exactly what I expected.

  35. Ironman, it’s not clear to me that you actually understand Ian B’s argument.

And SMFS did in fact mention “small children” (as well as teenagers) – I don’t recall Ian B once suggesting it is fine to have sexual relations with small children.

  36. UKL and Ironman-

I’ve frequently and I hope clearly made the case that I believe that (for this purpose) humans come in two forms- those which are sexually juvenile and those who are sexually mature, and that it is my view that sexual juveniles have neither the physical or mental activity for sexual intercourse with others, and this is thus my way of defining “against nature”. I believe this reflects the actual objective state of reality.

My consistent point is just that the metamorphosis usually occurs (both physically and mentally) before 16- and well before the American standard of 18- and thus whatever one may think of the general wisdom of teenagers having sex, it is not perverse or against nature to find a 15 year old physically attractive.

Where is the precise line, in terms of age? There isn’t one. Humans are attracted to appearance (as an initial phase), not birth certificates. Humans who are attracted to the presence of secondary sexual characteristics in others are “normal”. Those attracted to the absence of those characteristics are “abnormal” and may be reasonably described as paedophile (we might add a third category of those who are oblivious to the presence of indicators of sexual maturity and will fuck anything. This is also abnormal).

I don’t know how much more clear I can be.

  37. UKL-

Well, the case you linked to was with an eight year old, so even the Daily Mail used the P word that time. Note the lenient sentence though.

Compare that to the ruthless destruction of Jeremy Forrest as a “paedophile” for eloping with a girl a few months below the age of consent in the context of a clearly mutual and consensual relationship.

  38. . The women never seem to be paedophiles for some reason, just “inappropriate”.

I was only disputing the “never” in that sentence, because they have been. I would agree that the language used by such reports does often (not always) seem different. I also recall a BBC article discussing, among other things, the language used in reporting and an allegation about “society’s disbelief” in the existence of female paedophiles.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/magazine/8022861.stm

  39. No UKLIBERTY I haven’t misunderstood anything. SMFS used Pasolini and 15 year olds as a direct example of homosexuals being paedophiles. He doesn’t equivocate his disgust.
IanB thinks it should be legal to have sex with 14 year old girls (he hasn’t opined on boys as far as I can recall).
Somehow the two of them, otherwise never short of an opinion, dance around each other on this. I find them both quite creepy indeed.

  40. Look five comments back up the thread Ironman, and there you will find a comment that once again clearly expresses my position on the subject.

It’s you who keeps trying to frame this in terms of the Victorian model that females are sexually passive, have no innate sexual urge or agency of their own, and thus all that matters is protecting females from predatory male lusts, not me.

By the way, I’ve never seen you express an opinion on whether humans- male and female- are in qualitatively different sexual states before and after puberty. I think they are. Do you?

  41. If IanB “thinks it should be legal to have sex with 14 year old girls”, Ironman, he’s entirely normal. That’s the population weighted average age of consent across Europe. It’s you that’s abnormal. Along with UK law.
Brits always were a bit weird about sex. Something to do with their public school system, I suppose. D’y know what “sexo Ingles” is the euphemism for? Thank heavens I don’t have to live there.

  42. So Much for Subtlety

ukliberty – “Seemed quite clear what it was trying to say.”

That comment could have been clearer but it was referring to adoption. Not to sexual abuse.

Ironman – “So, SMFS or IanB, which way do you fancy jumping? (And which one of you fancies disappearing into thin air)”

What does it matter? This may be your obsession, but it is not mine. I feel no need to comment on your random thoughts.

Ironman – “SMFS used Pasolini and 15 year olds as a direct example of homosexuals being paedophiles. He doesn’t equivocate his disgust.”

Actually I very specifically did not. I pointed out that Pasolini was a paedophile. Not a homosexual. I also pointed out that the Gay community is happy to embrace him and call him a homosexual. Even though he does not seem to have been able to function sexually with adult males.

As I have said before, I am happy to say that paedophiles are not homosexuals. When the homosexual community does. For instance, the Gay community has discovered the White Nationalist (or so the Gays describe them) community hating on Gays because of a child dancing for the pleasure of some paedophiles in Brazil. So here is the question – do the Gays criticise the paedophiles or not?

    http://www.gaystarnews.com/article/video-young-boy-twerking-pride-has-homophobes-outraged150615

You don’t need to ask do you?

“Somehow the two of them, otherwise never short of an opinion, dance around each other on this.”

We have had this discussion before. I see no immediate reason to re-visit it. I don’t agree with Ian. I am not going to change his mind. Every now and then we disagree. So what? You need to stop assuming there is a Vast Right Wing Conspiracy out to get you.

“I find them both quite creepy indeed.”

That is the Pot calling the Kettle Afro-Caribbean.

  43. OK. So it seems UK Liberty got is wrong and it could have been clearer.
SMFS thinks liking 15 year olds makes you a paedophile and condemns homosexuals for embracing them.
IanB and Bloke in Spain think fancying 15 year olds is perfectly normal.
Bloke in Spain goes further and thanks God no less he doesn’t live in a country where it isn’t considered normal.
    I’m just creeped out

  44. Ironman. Get it into your head. The AoC in most of Europe, in most of the world, is 15 or under. Normal is usually defined as what most people do. Not what a bunch of weirdos on a chilly island in the North Atlantic do.
It’s le sex Anglais en France. One of your interests?

  45. @SJW
I’ve no idea. Most Latin countries tend to look at the difference in ages of participants so a 12 y/o with a 50 y/o would be a different matter to a 12 y/o with a 14 y/o.And if I remember rightly, Colombia – for one – regards men under 28 as juveniles for some matters. Recalling having been under 28, the notion is not entirely without merit.

  46. To tug this back to the initial post, if you haven’t read it already, it’s worth reading in full the Daily Mail article at the link, from which the headline quotation was taken. Nearly every paragraph contains some outlandish assertion (outlandish even for the Mail), based on “detailed research” that eventually turns out to be guesswork and then unscientific extrapolation. One suggestion I haven’t seen before is to have social network sites try to warn (alleged) children if the on-line behaviour of a correspondent seems to match that of “an adult masquerading as a youngster” (in a pervy version of the Turing Test, I suppose). The jackpot must surely be claimed by the NCA man who stated that “‘If these numbers are accurate the reality is that we are all living not far away from one.’” (indeed, but only ignoring the possibility that the initial conditional phrase is false). “‘We are having to consider how we police the private space.’”
