The Daily Mail has discovered genetics!
And I’m discovering, albeit not for the first time, that there really are some faces that only a mother could love.
Not just genetics, but the joys of marrying within one’s race.
Which is clearly verboten these days.
One of my great-nieces is absolutely recapitulating her mother, to the extent that we know what she’s going to look like at 13, 18, 25 etc., but it’s not as common as you might think.
When I was a boy all the great aunts would say “doesn’t he look like Fred [my father]. Years later, viewing a photo of my teenage father I did start to notice a similarity. Then, in my forties, an age of which I have a mental image of my father, I found, looking in the mirror of a morning, my father staring back at me.
I am now at an age of which I have an image of my grandfather, I expect him to appear in the mirror soon.
{I have now lived a year longer than my father, and collected a pension a year longer than my grandfather. ]
I have a photo of me, my dad, and my grandad at my Nanan’s funeral, and it’s definitely three ages of the same person. 15 years later and Iook just like my Dad.
