So we now know that a person can be an eminent brain surgeon with minimal knowledge of a long dead civilisation. Perhaps that gap in his knowledge won’t affect his performance as president either? After all the present incumbent did say that he had visited all 57 states- a far more relevant mistake surely.
By the way has anyone examined Hilary on her understanding of ancient civilisations?

Agree completely. What is even worse is these islamist vandals who seem intent on the destruction of every symbol of ancient civilisations so that they are permanently lost to the future. If they ever got here, Stonehenge etc would be blown up asap. The mainstream media is going to protect their candidate by going all in on Carson soon. We will see how he stands up to it. Romney did not do well.

Why would some odd views about Egypt affect his performance as President? Gladstone believed some odd things. He was a fine Prime Minister. I would think that in the past, the more likely a President was to believe in the literal nature of the Biblical stories about Egypt, the better a President he was.

But what is interesting about this is that no one asks the Democrats these sort of questions. No one will even ask Hilary when she thinks an abortion term-limit should be. Because we know whatever she answers will annoy her voting base and so the media thinks she needs to be protected. If she says seven months, she will annoy the Democratic Party’s base. If she says what she probably believes – that abortion should be free right up to and including once the mother has gone into labour – she will disgust most normal people. So no questions.

This is just part of the mainstream media’s efforts to disqualify anyone they do not like. They should be ignored.

I agree. But notice the bias. The mainstream media ruled questions about what Obama believed out of order when it came to Jeremy Wright. No one has asked Hilary when was the last time she was in a Church. No one has asked if her, and Obama’s, persistent, habitual, non-attendance means they do not believe. No one has asked if she thinks Jenner is a woman or when he became a woman. No one has even asked her what she thinks about Catholic schools.

No issue that might divide the Democratic voter base is allowed. Any bullsh!t that might hurt a Republican is. No one asked Obama what dog tasted like for instance, but they did go over every possible incident of Romney’s High School career. But now it turns out the Black guy’s private religious beliefs do matter.

The only way to win this game is refuse to play it. TW should not post these sorts of articles. The only articles worth posting are those pointing out the outrageous bias and double standards of the mainstream media.

The things they are destroying are not “theirs” in any meaningful way, which is why they care so little for them.

Petra was only ever right on the edge of any arab reach, and the culture they are destroying is not arabic, but Greco-Roman. And very not Islamic, which is more important to them.

Europe has very few large neolithic monuments because the locals actively destroyed them. (In parts of France they survived in large numbers until the Counter-Reformation. That’s what getting that old-time religion will do to people.) Nor does much Roman architecture survive, because despite venerating them, the locals used their large buildings as quarries of ready-made stone. The Chinese rubbed out all evidence of local Buddhism too.

Isis is not the exception here. Western culture is.

In the midst of all this, I’d love to know what the locals think about ISIL’s demolition spree. Wouldn’t surprise me if, to them, that ancient temple’s just a pain in the neck & a waste of good farming land & building materials. Bit like our attitude when some shabby bit of 60’s Stalinalia gets a Listed Building status put on it.
