Well done to the Telegraph here

When is Thanksgiving 2015 and why does the US celebrate Turkey Day?

Strong headline, thanksgiving and 2015 in it, search engines will like that.

Roast turkey, candied yams, giant balloons and American football – what is Thanksgiving Day really all about?

Yup, repeat the keyword in the subhead.

Turkeys have little to be thankful for on Thanksgiving meanwhile New Yorkers could be blown away with this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

Keyword twice in the photo caption? That might be a little rich. But the photo itself, the file name, contains the keyword. Good practice that.

And then 35 mentions of the keyword in the piece itself.

That’s the way to write pieces these days…..

  1. So Much For Subtlety

New Yorkers could be blown away with this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

You know, it is possible they will live to regret that phrase.

  2. Good SEO practise is to use the keyword in key places. Title, subhead, photo filename. Overusing downgrades the ranking. Links to article from social media is a high priority.

  3. “why does the US celebrate Turkey Day?” The account I read explained that Thanksgiving was taken up in a big way after the Civil War as a way of rubbing the South’s nose in it: ditto the rest of the fuss about the Pilgrim Fathers. After all the first permanent English settlement was in Old Virginie, not Mass.
