And Lord Falconer did not?
A gong for the bloke who won you an election is more discreditable than a peerage for your flatmate?
I think that’s one we file in the bin marked “Fuck off you cunts”.

Boy, did he get lucky.
All the political groupies think it was his genius wot wunnit, but really…
Labour elect a gurning cretin as leader.
The gnome running the SNP tells England that she’ll be bossing the show, even though she’s not an MP, when her party snuggles up to Labour to defeat the Tories.
And then every floating voter, Tories who despise Cameron and hordes of Kippers vote Tory.
Quelle surprise.
Yes. Sturgeon won it for the Tories.
Anyhoo, it’s time this whole stupid honours system was scrapped. It’s a farce.
Oh right, the Kippers voted Tory did they.
Every time you think yiu’re going to win- Oldham, the GE- you lose. And every time you find a reason why you didn’t really.lose at all -postal vote fraud, Kippers frightened back to the Tories. And thus you ensure ensure you will keep losing.
Douglas Carswell is telling you the truth – kick him out!
Lord Falconer of Flatmate: whatever happened to him?
That’s getting to be a damned big bin. Are you sure we don’t need a skip?
I see IronMan’s embarked on another charm offensive.
If he gets his gong for “services to politics” or “services to the Conservative and Unionist Party”, I don’t think it discredits it any more, or less, than any other purely political award.
Certainly less than “Lord” Prescott, for example.
Well there is one way to fix the system. We can return it to its original purpose.
Gongs are for people who kill Muslims.
Would that improve things?
It’s hard to see how it wouldn’t.
I’m curious to know when the golden age of the honours system was, when it actually had some credit.
Lots of people were disappointed that Pitt the Elder accepted a peerage (Earl of Chatham). But I bet lots of people were pleased when Arthur Wellesley accepted his (Duke of Wellington). So I doubt if there was a Golden Age; more likely people have always picked and chosen what they approved of.
SJW: That would be under Lloyd George, if you use another definition of “credit”.
@ SJW
Under the Plantagenets when men got knighted on the field of battle, it had some real meaning – but even then the king’s favourites were awarded knighthoods and titles that they didn’t deserve.
