When Frances’ theory is too barmy even for Debbie Orr

Short of going full conspiracy-theory, and suggesting a) that rightwing German men have slapped on the fake tan in a fiendish effort to engineer a revolt against German immigration policy; or b) that rightwing German men have slapped on the fake tan and dresses, then made it all up, to the same end, there appear to be few uncomplicated ways to blame the right for all this.

If Mrs. Self thinks the theory is nuts then perhaps it really is.

I feel I should feel sorry for Ms Coppola. A life time of sensible comments on banking and other things has just been blown away by an insane comment. No doubt the Left will try to cover it up – and they will never hold it against her. But she will be remembered for this rather than anything else.

  2. Her comments about banking haven’t always been that sensible I’m afraid. Good technical stuff but often lacking in underlying theory.

  3. The culturally enriched have been on the job in Vienna as well. And Norway, and…

There will soon be a greasepaint shortage across the continent with all supplies going to cater to this vast “Off-white and White Minstrel Show”.

    Poor foolish woman….

JuliaM – “Even Merkel has enough sense to start at least intimating that there might need to be some action discussed…!”

I expect she wants to arrest some bloggers.

  5. Merkel is ‘considering’ “tougher action” against convicted felons. It’s hardly the Enabling Act, is it?

This is merely window dressing to con people into thinking the Government is actually doing something. When the hoohah dies down and another load of nonsense grabs the attention of Twitter it will all be forgotten.

  6. “Sixth, it is beyond doubt that there are people living in Europe now who have been brought up in a culture where a woman would be publicly and viciously punished for allowing herself to be the victim of a sexual assault. It is utterly unrealistic to expect all those brought up in fundamentalist religious cultures – conservative Islam being the largest, but by no means the only such culture – to be able suddenly and completely to ditch all aspects of the pervasive environment they were brought up in.”

Hold on… Weren’t we all raccciiissssstttt for pointing this out before?

  7. SMFS, can we imagine this going the other way? A right-wing commentator being defended by the Left after a single ill-considered comment? No, in fact examples like Adria Richards show that we would not. They should be forced to play on the field they’ve chosen.

This whole affair reminds me of the end of Michael Crichton’s “Rising Sun”, with the Japanese executives symbolically turning their back on the villainous salaryman.

  8. I can sort of understand the left’s position here. They have a whole house of cards built on the “brown people are just like white people but darker” theme and if they admit the facts in this case that whole thing collapses. It actually knocks down one of the two pillars of socialism, “people are interchangeable”, (the other is “resources are not scarce”, they’re being hoarded). Of course, understanding is not agreement.

“Her comments about banking haven’t always been that sensible I’m afraid. Good technical stuff but often lacking in underlying theory”

    And you would know how?

  10. “Fifth, how could anyone possibly imagine that among a million people from anywhere there wouldn’t be some proportion of nasty, sleazy misogynists? A British legal history that includes the withholding of all manner of basic rights from women suggests that there’s nothing racially or religiously inherent in chauvinism”

Actually I can think of no precedent in the last at least 4 generations of British history. Except of course the racially inspired sex assault gangs in Rotherham etc.

I’m sorry, and God knows I don’t want to give any aid to the Thick.Racist.Pricks on this blog, but Muslim cultures and Muslim immigrant groups here have a problem. It’s a problem for them to address not to suggest any obligation on the part of extant Christian or Jewish peoples.

It is utterly unrealistic to expect all those brought up in… to be able suddenly and completely to ditch all aspects of the pervasive environment they were brought up in.”

Again, terribly sorry, but our cultural norms here in the West are unequivocally that those aspects are ditched. If you can’t live with those norms, you can fuck off somewhere else.

This isn’t up for discussion anymore.

  12. Arnald: Whatever reasons Tim gives you are too thick to understand them.

Agree with Dear Francis do you Redboy? It was all done by a gang of blackface whites was it?

    No doubt all singing:

    “We are the Digi-men,
    Dodgy-dodgy Digimen,
    We are the Digi-men
    Not from Knotty Ash”

    In Arabic

I suppose the females should be grateful–they got digi-raped in a warm station–unlike all those soviet women transported to freezing camps before getting the treatment.

  13. I think the reaction of the German authorities to all this makes it clear that western cultural norms are very much up for discussion.

Only among politicians, not among the people who actually make up that culture. If those politicians continue telling Westerners to abandon their history and surrender to foreign cultures, they’ll be swept aside by the backlash.

As pointed out above, the whole of socialism is based on ‘we’re all the same under the skin’. They simply cannot abandon that, or the entire ideology collapses. So they’ll keep doubling down on the stupid until the backlash is unstoppable.

Unfortunately, the results won’t be pleasant.

Roue le Jour – “They have a whole house of cards built on the “brown people are just like white people but darker” theme and if they admit the facts in this case that whole thing collapses.”

Actually it is worse than that. They think brown people are more moral than white people. Not just darker but magical.

This simple proves they are wrong. As I have said before, Western men are the nicest, the best men, on the planet. If the Left were to admit there was the slightest truth to that, they would be voting Conservative by tea time Thursday.

Ironman – “I’m sorry, and God knows I don’t want to give any aid to the Thick.Racist.Pricks on this blog”

Admitting we were right all along would be painful. Don’t worry, we won’t rub it in. Too much.

“It’s a problem for them to address not to suggest any obligation on the part of extant Christian or Jewish peoples.”

Great. And how are you going to do that? They got away with it. They snubbed their noses at German values and spat at the police – often literally – and they have got away with it. If you turn the other cheek, you will get slapped twice as hard. Well, we have been turning the other cheek and they have been slapping us again. How precisely do you think you can make them address this problem? Ask them nicely?

Ironman – “Again, terribly sorry, but our cultural norms here in the West are unequivocally that those aspects are ditched. If you can’t live with those norms, you can fuck off somewhere else. This isn’t up for discussion anymore.”

And how do you propose to do that? To remove a single one would take a decade of tax payer funded legal appeals. Let’s say a around million pounds. Merkel has let in a million. How many do you think she can remove?

They are there forever now. They aren’t going anywhere. They aren’t going to change. Why would they? What do you think we can do about it?

We need a zero immigration level. Preferably we would start net deportations.

  16. “If those politicians continue telling Westerners to abandon their history and surrender to foreign cultures, they’ll be swept aside by the backlash.”

    This is my fear.

If the ‘nice’ politicians we have today won’t become a bit ‘nasty’ and deal with the obvious problem, then we will eventually have ‘nasty’ politicians who will be considerably nastier than we can even consider possible today. The longer the inaction the worse the inevitable reaction will be.

  17. Ecks, you daft twat.

I’m surprised you didn’t get yourself over to Cologne, it would have been the closest you’d ever get to a meaningful relationship with a woman.

  18. So Much For Subtlety

Jim – “This is my fear.”

That is not my fear. That is a solution. My fear is that we are all too emasculated to make it happen.

Like the Moriori who simply sat down as the Mauri went around killing the men, castrating the children and eating anyone who resisted. That’s us.

  19. But isn’t everyone a unique individual snow flake that needs to be nurtured? I guess that must only be on the surface and can actually be ignored.

Going back to on topic the thought that Cologne involved some organization crossed my mind. While I wouldn’t say it is impossible that an anti-immigrant group were the organizers the more likely case is a thief noticed that, in our society, we spend more time making sure our women’s naughty bits aren’t touched than the purse that holds the money.

My solution is to change our mentality on physical contact. From this point on it is perfectly acceptable for anyone to touch anyone else anywhere at any time and it be taken as “I like your physical appearance”. Clothing can still be worn if it is functional. When protection isn’t necessary a simple loincloth will be all anyone needs.

Those that don’t want to be groped can simply wear my modern chastity belts. I can provide a full range of protection from molded plastic erogenous zone guards to full body steel plating. Check out our model Robby with a less inhibited friend.

  20. @SMFS: you misunderstand me. My point is that if we do not take severe measures (by current and recent standards, but not historic ones) we will get severe measures by historic standards. Thus if we do not implement the sort of measures to control Islam that are non-violent, targeted and limited in scope, and do not impact on the ability of the average Muslim to work and live in the UK peaceably, we will (eventually) get measures that are violent, are implemented regardless of any culpability and involve ideas like mass deportations and concentration camps.

Basically we need the smack of firm (but democratic) government, if we don’t get it we will end up with a violent non-democratic solution. That is my fear. Not that we all stand around doing nothing while Rome burns around us. That won’t happen. At some point something will happen, I just want it to be sooner, and milder, rather later and murderously destructive.

  21. @ Arnald
    “And you would know how?”
    i) because Tim actually listened in his economics lectures
ii) because some of us have pointed it out

  22. @ SMFS
If you read a decent commentary (or even thought) you would realise that being slapped on the right cheek meant that it was left-handed and meant as an insult, so turning the other cheek gives your assailant an opportunity to *not* start a fight. If he does so regardless, *then* you clobber him.

  23. I’m sure you’ll all be relieved to know that while the Cologne police were a bit tardy in dealing with a mob of rampaging muslims, they were right on the ball getting the water-cannon on those nasty pegida protesters.

That is interesting. Unfortunately I think it is both irrelevant to what I said and remarkable how 2000 years of Christian theologians missed that one.

  25. Bloke in Costa Rica

Re Ms. Coppola: why is it that when the previously-sensible decide not to be sensible, there’s never any half measures? It’s always sane to batty in one fell swoop.

  26. @ SMFS
1982 years of Christian theologians have NOTmissed it – just you.
Maybe that is because most Christian theoilogians are more intelligent that you or I or m,aybe because you don’t want to listen.

  27. @ Tim Newman
You’ve transposed left and right (or are you Kerr-handed?). A backhand is equally an insult rather than an attempted KO. Try it on a punchbag and compare the amount of swing you can generate without breaking your wrist.

  28. I don’t know how it was in Roman times, but it seems to me that in English period dramas, if a nobleman strikes a commoner, it’s backhanded on the right cheek. So turning the other cheek would thoroughly confuse him.

  29. Read on facebook posted by a friend: it is not the migrant’s fault, he was not educated as to how we do things in Europe so it is our fault.

There is a frighteningly large amount of people thinking like that.

  30. Arnald–Given the piss-poor quality of your replies it is hardly worth kicking you. You deserve it tho’.

Liberal Wank–Oh the old “they were just petty thieves doing a bit of groping to cover the crime” shite. Why don’t you go down your local Wal-Mart and try that tactic then Mr Septic? See if you can persuade some on-the-make DA that your jamming your fingers up several women’s cunts was not a sexual assault but just a mild diversionary tactic to cover your petty theft.

Don’t bend down to pick up the soap.

  31. @ SJW
Left-hand slap or back-handed slap with the right-hand it’s still an insult not a KO.
[Before anyone instances Henry Cooper, he was left-handed]
In the *better* period dramas, the nobleman takes off his glove and slaps the guy with an empty glove.
