The idiots are after JK Rowling now

Dr. Adrienne Keene ‎@NativeApprops
You can’t just claim and take a living tradition of a marginalized people. That’s straight up colonialism/appropriation @jk_rowling.

Fuck off you ignorant tosser. She’s telling a story. And previous stories have been used to do this ever since we first started telling stories.

  1. I’m a strong supporter of Helena Horton’s objections to “cultural appropriation”. In particular I object to black / African men wearing European style suits and ties. Plus blacks shouldn’t be allowed to use European musical instruments: they should stick with bongo-bongo drums. And they certainly shouldn’t be allowed to use the English language.

  2. The revolution devouring its children, again.

Progressive politics is tremendous. Everyone marches in lockstep until a group suddenly turns on another part, savages it as heretics and then eventually everyone starts marching in lockstep again to the new dogma.

  3. hmpfh… strangely enough the same people didn’t get their panties in a bunch when Mercedes Lackey , and others , used the skinwalker principle in their work…

Then again.. Twitter being the prime kneejerk outlet for the SJW masses… quelle surprise..

    Tim Newman – “Public schoolboys?”

Public schoolboys who aren’t being sodomized by the Staff or the older boys. How marginal is that?

OK. I am allowed one chippy Comp-graduate joke a year.

I am with Ralph. Although it may mean White people can’t play the banjo. No more Mercedes Benz for the WaBenzi. I want to see Obama walking everywhere wearing his dishdash or whatever they call it. Don’t even get me started on what Oprah ought to be wearing.

Although in fairness it does mean that Rowling has to stop culturally appropriating the alphabet from the Lebanese. I am torn between suggesting she only use Nordic runes or handing all her money over to some deserving Lebanese people as compensation.

  6. Ralph, don’t be silly. Cultural appropriation is when “superior races” imitate “inferior races”. The difference between American progs and old fashioned racists being increasingly minimal…

  7. I find this stuff very funny.

It’s like none of them have heard of show trials.

If a fellow traveller gives JK the metaphorical ice pick then I’m cool with that. I do think that there’s a fair chance that one day it will turn into real ice picks, but I hope to be abroad or dead by then.

  8. As a general rule, the tendency of “native” busybodies to be ostentatiously offended is inversely correlated with their melanin count.

So have a gander at the chief “red Indian” on the warpath against Rowling.

Somebody speaking with heap big forked tongue!

  9. Come on, Steve; claiming to be an Injun can get you a chair at Harvard rather than at Podunk Uni , and speed you on to the US Senate. So some people will want to emulate the Law Squaw.

P.S. I saw her referred to as Liarwatha the other day: not bad, eh?

  10. So glad I declined my firm’s strong suggestion that I enrol on twitter and tweet stuff with the aim of marketing the firm.

It holds no attraction for me at all and the very real danger of a faux pas (possibly actionable) when pissed one night.

  11. Bloke in Costa Rica

“Adrienne Keene”. The cunt’s culturally appropriated her entire name off the Frogs and the bog-trotters.

  12. ‘Liarwatha’ is an epically brilliant satirical nickname.

Denounced as racist by the usual crowd, but still, fucking brilliant.

You don’t even need to be p!ssed. People have made jokes in poor taste that have destroyed their lives. People have said things that have been taken the wrong way. 140 characters does not allow for a great deal of nuance.

The problem is too many people on the internet are idiots.

It is amazing how forgiving people are when their own allies do this. Warren has made a career by denying a real American Indian of a job. Kind of outrageous. Or I would say it was outrageous if Australia hadn’t convicted someone for saying the equivalent situation in Australia was outrageous. So I am sure it will be illegal in the UK too.

But what is interesting is that we accept Obama doing it. By the Left’s own standards, he is as fake as Warren. He was not raised in an African American community. He is not in that sense African American at all (merely being half African and half White American). That is, if it is culture that matters, Obama is pretty damn White. If it is race that matters he is African American. The Left usually rejects the one drop rule.

It certainly matters to him. When he first got elected he was attacked for not being Black enough and so he has faked it ever since.

Snag – “The Navajo seem quite comfortable culturally expropriating the business of casinos.”

The Navajo used to be famous for their woolen blankets. Made from wool. As other Plains Indians used to be famous for their horses.

Both animals appropriated from the Spanish.

Meantime, Around the World in 80 Days is racist it seems:

Which it is, in Jules Verne’s very innocent way. But it is nice to see the idiocy of our ruling classes summed up so nicely.
