This may not be nice but is it surprising?

“When I go out I feel as if I’m wearing ‘slut’ across my forehead,” says ex-porn actress

Really? Why?

I can’t think why this happens. Can you think why it happens?

slut

1.
a woman who has many casual sexual partners.
synonyms: promiscuous woman; prostitute, whore; slattern; euphemistic model, escort, masseuse; poule; informal floozie, bike, pro; informal scrubber, slag, slapper; informal tramp, hooker, hustler, roundheel, chippy, skank, puta, hoochie; black Englishho; dated tart, scarlet woman, loose woman, hussy, woman of ill repute, streetwalker, trollop; archaic harlot, strumpet, wanton, drab, doxy, trull, sloven

Why would anyone use that word to describe a porn actress?

  1. How did she get into the industry. YTS?. She chose a lucrative business, then gets infected with sanctimonious leftism –or some other mental poison–starts whining on-line and gets all upset about being negged?

    Silly cow.

  2. So Much For Subtlety

What porn double standard? She compares the treatment of James Deen with the retired Bree Olsen. Deen has merely been accused of liking rough sex. He has not been convicted yet. And he is still in the industry. Ms OIsen wishes to work in some other field and be treated as a normal person.

This is of course an insane comparison. We need to wait until Mr Deen attempts to leave the industry and work as a nurse or something. Then we will have a real comparison.

As for Ms Olsen, she was paid large amounts of money to facilitate young men whacking off. Not to talk to them. Not to display her scintillating conversation. Not to show off her sparkling personality. Simply to bring them to climax as quickly as possible. I wonder if anyone can explain to me why men might be conditioned to treat her as a sex object with no opinions worthy of respect? It is a mystery innit?

I don’t know what this “false, destructive social hierarchy” is. She certainly doesn’t explain it. But then logical thought is not her strong point:

we’ll only take the rape allegations against Deen seriously if we stop conflating consensual porn and consensual rough sex with assault or brushing off the widespread accusations.

Umm, Honey, Deen has not been convicted yet. Not even charged I believe. So the only person conflating consensual rough sex with assault would be the author. As there is no evidence of assault except some accusations. Presumption of innocence applies to low life porn stars too.

  3. Surely “Whore” would be more accurate or the generic “Sex Worker” in that she is having sex in return for money and having it filmed.

“Slut” is more typically a term for a women who has sex with lots of men without direct payment.

  4. So Much For Subtlety

They treat me like I would somehow be damaging to children.”

I wonder how many parents want their children to learn from someone who is proud of taking random d!cks up her ar$e? You know, a lot of people might think that is damaging to their children.

She worked in what used to be called, quaintly, the demi-monde. Fine. Her body, her choice. Never seen any of her films but I am sure they are outstanding. But now she wants to move into normal society and be treated like anyone else. I am not sure that is how it works. How do you have a respectful conversation about how much you appreciated jacking off while watching her f*cking six guys in a truck stop? She needs to reject that world and all its works in order to reaffirm membership of the vanilla world. She cannot blow her cake and have it too.

  5. Sounds like the same people who want to ban prostitution and porn. Some people disapprove of what other people do with their careers, and feel it’s their right to make their lives miserable because of it.

Should society disapprove of porn and prostitution or not? What harm does it do anyone else? How far can you go in expressing your disapproval?

  6. SMFS,

“I wonder how many parents want their children to learn from someone who is proud of taking random d!cks up her ar$e? You know, a lot of people might think that is damaging to their children.”

I wouldn’t care. Seriously. I’m more worried about teachers who can’t do their job than what they once did. And I’ve seen no evidence that pornstars are any more of a risk to children than anyone else. I’d be more worried about letting my kids be alone with priests.

My mate Harry is into bondage stuff. He goes to nights with people and does some spanking. I’m not into that at all. He is. Should he therefore not be allowed near kids?

  7. She thinks being a slut is bad? I am now sorry I ever let her on set. She seemed to enjoy her life then, but maybe she was a better actor than I thought.

  8. Bloke not in Cymru

Can’t remember who it was but a porn star did a fund raiser for a charity supporting homeless kids that had HIV, when she was interviewed with the charity director the question was asked should a kids charity take money from such a dubious source. Her answer was that once that once he has helped make sure they are housed, fed and receiving medical care then the reporter could worry about their morals

  9. It might explain some of the unlikely characters who do ‘find Jesus’ the moment their career as a 1st class ejaculation facilitator comes to an end. Get born again, denounce your past sins, and maybe it’s a bit easier to get accepted back into polite society.

People are always going to judge, but I don’t see much to justify sacking a nurse because she sucked cock on film years ago. Even when it comes to working with kids, there’s a pretty long list of people I’d be more concerned about than an ex-porn star.

  10. There’s a chap in my line of work who’s an unfrocked priest. Top bloke, so far as I can make out. Though I’m often wrong.

I like to think I’d take this Olsen beasel as I found her. From what little I know of her, her most distressing quality is her new-found piety. I mean, be a ‘slut’, then change your ways. Fine. Stuff happens, your values and priorities shift. But if your former career, which you chose as an adult, is one you now find uncongenial, at least have the chutzpah to be unrepentant about it.

  11. The interesting thing here is that the meaning of slut has changed quite significantly over the past few decades, to the point where it no longer means just a promiscuous woman, but rather something a lot closer to a BDSM submissive.

Of course, a few decades earlier a slut was a woman who didn’t clean her house properly. The meaning of promiscuity – and particularly the negative connotations of such – was a relatively short-lived definition.

  12. Isn’t she just doing what feminists have been encouraging ordinary women to do for a while now: Slut it up in their twenties as if they were men. Only when they get to their thirties they find men don’t want the mother of their children to be a woman who has spent a decade slutting it up. They’ve been sold a pup.

  13. I’m not quite sure what she is complaining about. James Deen , I believe, still works in the Porn industry.

Like many before him, he has had the odd appearance outside the porn industry as a sort of comedy thing playing himself (I think Ron Jeremy is the most obvious example of this) or occasionally in films about porn (say Boogie Nights), but if he left porn and tried to do Shakespeare he would get the same treatment.

Basically if you do porn you aren’t going to have any sort of career in the mainstream, because the mainstream doesn’t generally want people who have worked in porn for fairly obvious reasons.

I suspect said lady thinks the attention she got when working in porn is somehow related to her personality and talent rather than her knockers.

  14. TN>

Was that in response to me? If not – and the time-stamps suggest not – it’s an odd coincidence that I was writing about how these days no-one cares about any partner’s sexual history just as you were asserting that people still care.

  15. Bloke in North Dorset

Well she does have the saving grace that she can accurately accuse people who recognise her of being wankers.

  16. Sasha Gray has made the jump to the mainstream.

    Bobbi Star tried but failed.

I certainly will not touch sluts with a barge pole and as for having a relationship with whorish 30+ year olds who have been riding the cock carosel for 10-15 years, don’t make me laugh!

  17. Paul,

“Like many before him, he has had the odd appearance outside the porn industry as a sort of comedy thing playing himself (I think Ron Jeremy is the most obvious example of this) or occasionally in films about porn (say Boogie Nights), but if he left porn and tried to do Shakespeare he would get the same treatment.”

Ron Jeremy was a mainstream actor who did some off-Broadway stuff before starving and doing porn. It’s why he can act pretty well. And that was very common. It’s only when actors realised that porn trashed their careers that they stopped doing it (it’s mostly strippers and ex-models doing porn).

  18. I agree with others who say being a former porn star is irrelevant to a new career assuming one has the necessary knowledge, skills and qualifications for the job and is open about their past and maintain a no-comment/neutral-opinion on whether others should or should not choose to be a porn star.

Not only porn stars equated to “sluts”, models too:

Miss Laird, who has a four-year-old daughter, Zofia, said: ‘After a week, I got called into the office and the headmistress said, “I don’t want to have this conversation with you but I have to”.

‘She sat me down and said somebody had been on my Facebook page and discovered that I was doing modelling work.

They had reported me for it. I was told that they didn’t want to damage the school’s reputation and that people would lose respect for the school if they found out I was a model.

She said she doesn’t want her year-six pupils thinking it is acceptable to be a model.’

    Teaching assistant is fired

  19. So Much For Subtlety

NiV – “Sounds like the same people who want to ban prostitution and porn. Some people disapprove of what other people do with their careers, and feel it’s their right to make their lives miserable because of it.”

Not really. This is the Swedish model of mental confusion the feminist left has got themselves into. They want to support the women empowering themselves through their life style choices, but they condemn the men who are exploiting the poor dears for their own sexual pleasure. So they would like to ban porn and prostitution but the women involved are victims. They only want to make men’s lives miserable.

“Should society disapprove of porn and prostitution or not? What harm does it do anyone else? How far can you go in expressing your disapproval?”

I find it hard to believe anyone would want prostitution and porn. I think in an ideal society we would agree neither would exist. But realistically they ain’t going away. But this is not about expressing disapproval. Apart from the school teacher thing, that is not her complaint. It is that no one seems to think that porn is a normal job and they won’t treat her as if she had been doing just another job like any other girl working on the factory line.

  20. So Much For Subtlety

    Anon – “I wouldn’t care. Seriously.”

Good for you. Surely you can see a lot of parents may not agree.

“And I’ve seen no evidence that pornstars are any more of a risk to children than anyone else. I’d be more worried about letting my kids be alone with priests.”

That is because you believe the media. Priests are about the safest people to leave your children with. Porn stars, on the other hand, tend to be very damaged people. Or they wouldn’t be doing porn. But it is not what they will do. It is what they think. Most parents do not want taking six random men up the ar$e to be treated like any other career choice or something that normal people do.

Remember you can’t be a teacher if you are a member of the BNP. I doubt many members of UKIP would survive long either. It is not that members of the BNP pose a danger to children, it is that people don’t like their values. A ban that a surprising number of people here support.

Bloke not in Cymru – “Her answer was that once that once he has helped make sure they are housed, fed and receiving medical care then the reporter could worry about their morals”

More to the point, she is doing a charitable deed which may, if you believe that sort of thing, make amends for anything else she may have done in her life. By refusing her money, you are also refusing what might be very important to her future happiness.

DK – “People are always going to judge, but I don’t see much to justify sacking a nurse because she sucked cock on film years ago.”

I would agree. On the other hand having a lot of fan boys turning up to chat to her and take photos may be disruptive. The smallest hint of bad publicity would not be good either.

Edward Lud – “But if your former career, which you chose as an adult, is one you now find uncongenial, at least have the chutzpah to be unrepentant about it.”

Read the article. She is unrepentant. She is just upset that other people do not treat it as just another job. She does not like her fame. Not just the discrimination but the people who loved her work and can’t move beyond it.

    This is unreasonable.

Paul – “I’m not quite sure what she is complaining about. James Deen , I believe, still works in the Porn industry.”

Ther author is complaining *because* he is still working. He has been accused so he should be fired and shunned by all of polite society even without a trial

Pcar – “I agree with others who say being a former porn star is irrelevant to a new career assuming one has the necessary knowledge, skills and qualifications for the job and is open about their past and maintain a no-comment/neutral-opinion on whether others should or should not choose to be a porn star.”

I expect parents will object. Because it is difficult to maintain a neutral opinion on being a porn star when one is, obviously, a former porn star.

I think evidence of massively poor choices does make for a poor role model. How many people here would want their daughters to be porn stars?

  21. So Much For Subtlety

Speaking of things that are not nice but not surprising, I like the way Cosmo frames this story:

    http://www.cosmopolitan.com/sex-love/news/a55755/bree-olson-life-after-porn/

Life after porn? Written across the top of my browser is “This is what it is really like to transition from Porn Star to the Real World”. All perfectly non-judgemental and supportive.

    But they headline the story:

This Former Porn Star Tearfully Describes How Hard Her Life Has Been Since She Retired

“There’s nothing wrong with doing porn, but how people treat you for the rest of your life, it’s not worth it.”

Tearfully? I expect that Cosmo is not aiming at a male audience. In fact I might think that they are aiming at a female audience. Made up of women whose husbands and boyfriends watch a little bit of porn. Nothing like watching the b!tch suffer is there?

To quote the great philosopher Al Bundy, no one hates women like other women.

  22. y’know.. It may well not be her porn career that’s the problem there..

    Doing Sheen… Now that’s a career killer..

  23. “I find it hard to believe anyone would want prostitution and porn. I think in an ideal society we would agree neither would exist.”

So in your ideal society every individuals sexual needs would be met by another person entirely voluntarily at all times?

  24. So Much For Subtlety

Jim – “So in your ideal society every individuals sexual needs would be met by another person entirely voluntarily at all times?”

I am trying to think what the alternative would be.

Is it better that someone is forced to do it?

  25. Dave,

No, I wasn’t responding to you. But whereas it’s probably true that society as a whole doesn’t care much what women get up to any more, young men with prospects who want to raise a family stubbornly still insist that the mother of their future children has not spent years slutting it up. Nobody expected them to be virgins, and most blokes will forgive the odd mishap and wild times at university, but a woman in her 30s who has spent years monkey-swinging from one cock to the next, and boasting about it (as they often do) is going to struggle to find a half-decent bloke who takes her seriously.

  26. ” but a woman in her 30s who has spent years monkey-swinging from one cock to the next, and boasting about it (as they often do) is going to struggle to find a half-decent bloke who takes her seriously.”

Wouldn’t put me off, all else being equal.
And a bit of expertise never goes amiss.

  27. TN,

I suspect that most women find it difficult to take seriously any guy who has spent his youth dipping into as many pussies as possible.

  28. Smfs,

It seems you are unaware of the oldest trade. Transactional sex is as old as civilisation.

  29. I suspect that most women find it difficult to take seriously any guy who has spent

That would explain why men who shag lots of hot chicks when they’re young end up unwanted and single in their 30s. Oh, wait…

  30. So Much For Subtlety

Rocco Siffredi – “I suspect that most women find it difficult to take seriously any guy who has spent his youth dipping into as many pussies as possible.”

That is why women only marry virgins and people like Mick Jagger, Warren Beatty, Jack Nicolson et al can’t get none.

Rocco Siffredi – “It seems you are unaware of the oldest trade. Transactional sex is as old as civilisation.”

That is irrelevant. It is true but irrelevant. Actually not so true – it pre-dates civilisation. Monkeys have prostitution.

The question is whether in an ideal world anyone would think this is a good thing. I would say no. Ideally. Reality is something else altogether different.

  31. Tim Newman,

It’s why whores always work the next town. You don’t want someone to recognise you that might know you.
