Of course Beppe can say this

The comedian noted that London’s first Muslim mayor is an example of what unthinkable surprises life can hold in store and as proof that one must never stop dreaming, only to proceed to joke: “Now I want to see when he blows himself up in Westminster.”

Might not be a very good joke but he’s entirely at liberty to make it.

Can’t help thinking though that in the British context we’d have tried to work Guy Fawkes into it somehow….

  1. So Much For Subtlety

Of course it is funny. It is unexpected and not politically correct. When we hear it we recognise it as one of those thing we know we are all thinking but dare not say.

I am impressed that Italian humour hasn’t been as castrated by political correctness as British humour.

We have elected an Islamist as mayor of London. If I were Italian I would laugh too.

  2. Why would he blow himself up when he can do much more damage out of his office?

Of course the danger of damage runs both ways. The more harm he does the more people might wake up

  3. What Mr X says – he could wreak far more havoc in office than dead. So far there’s no indication that he intends to though.

  4. “Beppe Grillo sparks outrage with terrorist joke about London mayor Sadiq Khan.”

More outrage than when actual muslims murder Europeans in the name of islam?

More outrage than when actual muslims murder Europeans in the name of islam?

    You daft racist.

Islamic terrorists shouting Islamic slogans while murdering Europeans in the name of Islam has nothing to do with Islam.

    David Cameron told us so.

  6. “You daft racist.”

Sorry, I was forgetting that islamic terrorism is nothing to do with islam.
    I denounce myself.

  7. “The comment may also cause issues for Ukip as leader Nigel Farage has developed a close connection with Mr Gillo in the part few years.”

Yeah, I’m sure Farage is now having sleepless nights over that joke. As we all are.
