Seriously fun politics here

At a campaign rally here in one of the most liberal towns in America, Donald Trump offered praise for an unusual party: avowed democratic socialist Bernie Sanders.

“Now, I’m no fan of Bernie Sanders, but he is 100 percent right,” Trump told a crowd here this weekend. “He is 100 percent right: Hillary Clinton is totally controlled by the people that put up her money. She’s totally controlled by Wall Street.”

That’s not the only area where the presumptive Republican nominee sounds like Sanders, who is challenging Clinton for the Democratic nomination. On a series of issues, including free trade and foreign military intervention, Trump is effectively running to the left not only of his own party but also of Clinton.

We’ll have to see how it works out but Trump’s running rings around John Podesta at present.

  1. So Much For Subtlety

I continue to call for a Trump-Sanders platform. Call it the Angry Old White Male platform.

They are likely to be in basic agreement about so much anyway.

I look forward to Trump’s election slogan – “Don’t vote for Hilary, Vote for the man who bought her”

Semi-off-topic: For genuinely fun politics, you have to look to the Philippines. It looks like they will elect this man:

He has promised to reduce crime by feeding 100,000 criminals to the fish in Manila Bay.

All over the world people are rejecting sensible politics. But what do you do if your serious politicians are worse than the buffoons?

They’re not buffoons. They are conspiring against us.

Just name a country where the mass uncontrolled immigration has a democratic mandate?

  4. Johnnydub,

Venezuela, the people there want the right to be able to immigrate to the US without control.

That doesn’t mean we should have to let them in. Only that they exist.

  5. Emigrate, LY – Venezuelans want the right to emigrate to the US – which isn’t quite what Johnnydub asked.

  6. Upon rereading it I wasn’t as clever as I thought at the time. One day I might actually succeed in making a joke.
