So which way around does this work then?

An actress who played a prostitute in Game of Thrones is actually a real-life hooker who charges up to £900 for her services, it has been revealed.
Saeeda Vorajee, 41, starred in the first two series of the hit show as a prostitute called Armeca where she took part in a controversial lesbian sex scene and acted alongside Jerome Flynn.

Is it that there are no actresses who can convincingly play a tart and therefore they got someone in who isn’t acting? Or is it that she’s a good actress who just has different venues for her performances?

We’re always bent told that Hollywood should cast people who are from that background eg disabled people to play disabled people, blacks as blacks etc so it follows that they must find a prostitue to play a prostitute.

  2. So Much For Subtlety

Well their story last week was about a real life prostitute who got a job on Game of Thrones, playing a prostitute, and has now left the business. Or so she claims.

So at a guess I would say they don’t give a damn. They just want eyeballs on webpages.

  3. There is an age old link between actresses and prostitutes.

    So what?

In fact it would be much nicer to see lots of modern actresses doing a nice sideline in paid sex than to see them propagandising for CM and the scum of the EU.

Let alone gun control which is as low as a skank can go.

  4. Actresses. Hookers. Same thing.
    The two big lies.
She lies, she wants to have sex with you.
You lie to yourself, you believe her.

    Saeeda Vorajee, 41,

About time she found a new career then. Before she is giving hand jobs below a railways bridge in Birmingham.

  6. Incidentally. First recorded instance of a newspaper under estimating hooker earnings. An all-nighter for a quality girl’s got to be north of a a grand. Which would be the “up to”.
    Wonders will never cease.

bloke in spain – “An all-nighter for a quality girl’s got to be north of a a grand. Which would be the “up to”.”

A grand? Well she has been on Game of Thrones so perhaps she has a chance. But for that sort of money? I would think we would be talking about the slave interpreter. Or the Queen with the dragons.

Anyone else on the show? Not really.

I don’t want to sound naive about these things, but surely this is just a side effect of the Yom Kippur war? Surely no one but an Arab oil sheikh would even consider that sort of money. The sex just isn’t worth it – much less paying to listen to her snore.

  8. This got missed from the English press I think, but this isn’t the first time this has happened: the first few seasons of Game of Thrones had a prostitute – the one Tyrion Lannister falls in lover with – played by a German actress of Turkish descent. The audience liked her and so they gave her a bigger role, at which point the German press twigged she’d been a porno actress in the recent past. They ran the story, causing her to become estranged from her parents.

  9. As well as being a hooker she was also a glamour model. And it’s quite common that they get jobs doing nudity work that doesn’t require much acting. The director can tell them to get their clothes off and they will and they’ll act sexy on film without any nerves. It gets the job done quick rather than some actress that decides she doesn’t want to get them out.

Tim Newman – “They ran the story, causing her to become estranged from her parents.”

Two is coincidence, three is a political point. Or the director is working his way through his Black Book.

Poor girl. A nice middle class German-Turkish girl throws her comfortable life away for what? Some minor fame? I hope it works out for her, but escaping a Turkish family shouldn’t mean porn.

Anon – “And it’s quite common that they get jobs doing nudity work that doesn’t require much acting.”

Actually it is extremely uncommon. Until recently Hollywood maintained a very firm wall between porn and mainstream films – for women at least. If you had done porn you could not work in the mainstream. Tracy Lords was the first to try to break through and she had some minor success. Sasha Grey has had a little more success. But I would struggle to think of anyone else.

There has always been another rule for men. No one minds that Silvester Stallone started in porn – as did, by all accounts, Arnold Schwartzenegger and Jack Nicolson.

    But you are succeeding, SMfS
My pal regularly rents out xicas for 1k€/night. Sometimes in pairs. Mostly to Brits. There’s people who rent Ferraris for a grand a day.Or own racehorses or yachts.Or play roulette. Other ways of losing surplus money.

  12. SMFS,

There’s a line there between nudity and hardcore. Doing Playboy was never a problem. Doing hardcore was (and mostly still is). And Stallone only did nudity, not hardcore.

  13. £900 a day for a 41 year old prozzie, who let’s be honest, isn’t top of the lookers? I don’t know much about the industry, but that sounds unlikely.

  14. Hat tip Tim Newman! How did the British press miss that?

SMFS – Many people can’t or won’t spend more than a tenner on a bottle of wine. Others will happily spend a grand. Same applies to paid-for nookie.

  15. So Much For Subtlety

bloke in spain – “My pal regularly rents out xicas for 1k€/night.”

Yeah. It is always a friend of a friend. Does anyone know anyone who has actually paid this?

I don’t deny it is possible. It just seems somewhere between highly unlikely and insane.

MC – “Many people can’t or won’t spend more than a tenner on a bottle of wine. Others will happily spend a grand. Same applies to paid-for nookie.”

People will pay for something that is rare. So the Mother of Dragons? I bet if she was interested she could charge something in that area. If Maria Sharapova rang TN up, I am sure he would consider that sort of money. Some types of wine are rare. Spanish women are not.

This seems more in the realm of urban legend to me. No one can be that desperate.

  16. If you’re in town and looking to book a top end escort who will come to your room in the afternoon, give you a quickie, change into evening dress, escort you to dinner at a decent restaurant, accompany you to the theatre and then out to a night club and finally back to your hotel for another go, all the while making the approriate conversation as well as looking the business on your arm, then a grand a night, (plus paying for the hotel etc.) is probably about right.

Of course it helps if you’re an EU bigwig and can put it all on expenses.

  17. > One of the paper’s reporters visited her at her home in Strood, Kent, where she offered a massage and sex act for £65 – or full sex for £900. She claimed charging so much ‘keeps away the riff-raff’.

Let’s say I’m a plumber. My standard charge is £65. Customer rings on Christmas Eve asking how much for a late night call-out. I reply £900. That doesn’t make me a posh plumber, that just means I don’t really want to do the work.

  18. If Maria Sharapova rang TN up, I am sure he would consider that sort of money.

I’d always assumed my Russian language ability and amusing anecdotes about life on Sakhalin would get her into the sack for free. After all, *she* called *me*.

And now her careers is in tatters, she’d have to help with a bit of housework while she’s ’round, too.

  19. I’m confused, what is the problem with a prostitute changing careers? Should she have done a walk of atonement first or something?

“You;re disagreeing with information being provided to you by someone in the business.”

    SMFS’s stock-in-trade, I’m afraid.

  21. So Much For Subtlety

Tim Worstall – “You;re disagreeing with information being provided to you by someone in the business.”

So I gathered. An interesting career path there. But even so he is not saying he pimps out girls for that sort of money. He says a friend does. Well perhaps, as I assume, a “pal” is not the same as a pal, but whatever.

It is just so far beyond my experience. Even if we were talking about a dozen signed affidavits from experts I would struggle to believe it. Why would anyone be willing to throw money away like that? That Hugh Grant would pay $50 for a blow job is odd but believable. But what could a girl bring to the table that would be worth $1000 and someone else would not provide for free?

For someone like Elliot Spitzer there may have been a point to paying that much – he needed the silence. Even then he did not have a huge choice. He had to pay for the girl to come to New York. I expect the hotel room was even more expensive than the girl.

  22. So Much For Subtlety

    Bloke in Costa Rica – “SMFS’s stock-in-trade, I’m afraid.”

Come on. You’re being petulant. You can do better than this. After all I might be an illegitimate son of the Costa Rican President who happens to work as a crack hacker for the FBI since retiring from the SAS. You don’t know. You definitely don’t know what I know. You are upset about something else but a personal attack is not going to make that go away.

  23. SMfS.I have absolutely no problem with having a g/f who runs a casa relax. Brothel if you prefer. I did, after all, finance her into it. And why should I? There’s dozens within half an hour’s drive of here. Some of the larger ones have advertising billboards on the autoroute. Only wish the rest of the Spanish economy was as successful, although our politicians do succeed in fucking up everything they touch
You may be amazed to hear this, but the entire world is not the Home Counties.

  24. SMFS “a crack hacker”

Nope. No where a good enough actress.

    “Since retiring from the SAS”

Well, that’s slightly more plausible if you postulate a 15 year trooper, with a severe but balanced pair of chips, and absolutely no involvement with any planning above the brick level. So, well, implausible.

  25. So Much For Subtlety

bloke in spain – “I have absolutely no problem with having a g/f who runs a casa relax.”

Sure. I think we gathered that. That is not the issue. All I did was express doubt that many people are paying £1000 a night for female companionship. Every time TW does an article on a drug bust we all get properly suspicious of the value the police place on the drugs. Even though, I would guess, no one here *is* a drug dealer, or has regular contact with one, or even knows one, it is commonly accepted that a bit of skepticism about those prices is sensible. Why isn’t it is reasonable to be a bit skeptical about claims about prostitutes? You know, given the track record of the claims usually made about prostitutes (and nail bars etc etc).

Surreptitious Evil – “Nope. No where a good enough actress.”

That is why I don’t charge a thousand quid a night

Bloke in Costa Rica – “I beseech you, in the bowels of Christ, think it possible you may be mistaken.”

I may well be. I have never even suggested otherwise. But seriously – you think that it is factually incorrect to think that people in the computer industry are more likely to lack some basic interpersonal skills? I may be wrong. But why would such a deep seated and wide spread urban legend arise if it did not have some basis in fact? Simply telling me that you know some top blokes is not the ideal proof is it?

  26. @SMfS
” I would guess, no one here *is* a drug dealer, or has regular contact with one, or even knows one,”
    Why would you presume that?
Bearing in mind how ubiquitous drug use is in society, it’s highly likely several of the regular commentators here are consumers. Particularly as Tim’s site sorts for the better educated, more affluent & in most cases, more open minded. And given drug purchasing has, by its illegal nature, to be on a “who you know” basis, it’s inevitable that some of those will have obtained drugs for a third party. So by the police’s reckoning will count as “drug dealers”.& if captured, could be prosecuted as same. Not saying that’s likely or that any of the users will be done for “possession”. Not unless they’ve been totally stupid or very unlucky. The forces of law & order long ago gave up on zero tolerance. Apart from anything else, where would lawyers, magistrates & the police themselves get their gear if they stepped on the trade too hard?
