Socialists used to take much more than a shilling.

My university radio station got sent loads of tape reels. We stacked them in the stock room as we didn’t have a reel-to-reel tape machine. Never found out what was on them.

It’s always good to see a Timmy elsewhere. It saves me from searching and missing interesting topics. I am curious why we don’t get more Timmy elsewhere bits?
Note on maternity and vacation leave: Most major companies do provide these as part of the benefits. A worker for combo mini-mart doesn’t, at least under the previous owner. In practice it is the lowest paid workers that don’t have these benefits. In the near* minimum wage jobs I had in my youth vacation time was never provided.
* I’ve only ever had one minimum wage job which was my very first. 4 months later, once I had ‘experience’ I moved on for a 12% raise. The raise didn’t come with vacation time though.
