Note on maternity and vacation leave: Most major companies do provide these as part of the benefits. A worker for combo mini-mart doesn’t, at least under the previous owner. In practice it is the lowest paid workers that don’t have these benefits. In the near* minimum wage jobs I had in my youth vacation time was never provided. * I’ve only ever had one minimum wage job which was my very first. 4 months later, once I had ‘experience’ I moved on for a 12% raise.
