It’s quite gorgeous what people will complain about

The decline has been steady and noticeable. One of seven residents was black in 1970. Today, it is nearly one of 20, with most of the city’s 46,000 blacks living in public housing.

So, the tech companies are bastards because they hire few blacks.

But it’s a tragedy that the city the tech companies are in doesn’t have many blacks to hire.

  1. I like how he points out that these people moved aaaaaaaaall the way to Oakland. Which is only a few miles from (directly across the bay) the city of San Francisco itself.

Does anyone complain about the low numbers of any specific minority in San Rafael? San Jose? Fremont?

It like complaining that someone moved from Tempe to Mesa, or from the Bronx to Queens. Its still the same metropolitan area, just a different logo on the police cars.

And if you’re lonely being one of a tiny number of minorities in that area – if you’re so racists that you only feel comfortable with others of your own kind 😉 – move over to Oakland then. Like others did.

  2. Mr. Brown then told the story of hearing a radio program lamenting the looming extinction of a type of butterfly.

“And yet,” he said, “we don’t have the basic compassion and common sense to realize that blacks are an endangered species in the city of San Francisco.”

And yet, just like enviromentalists, you want to spend huge amounts of money to subsidize the expansion of a group in one area – calling them ‘endangered’ – while completely ignoring the thriving populations in the immediate surrounding areas.

Gerald Harris: Toilet bomb scene? I’ve never done a toilet bomb scene.
Ricky Gervais: Oh yeah, it’s not you, it’s the other one.

  4. Where is the complaint that whites are being driven out of San Francisco? The tech companies are hiring Asians so the %age of whites in SF is more than 10% below the national average – a much bigger difference than for Blacks! Of course that the difference is bigger is largely because the City fathers are subsidising the housing costs of most of ther remaining blacks.

  5. Re john77

Wrong kind of minority. Asian are more white than white when it comes to rent seekers.

  6. Is this actually a bad thing?

See, I get the impression that places like NY, London and SF are a status aspiration for white people. That they feel that they’ve somehow achieved by getting there, and never mind that they’re living in a broom closet.

The Indians I know seem indifferent to where they live. They don’t seem to mind being in Northampton or Derby or Banbury.

  7. Upscale white liberals create zoning laws to restrict what property can be built and which drives up prices to absurd levels.

Poorer residents move out of the city because of said high prices.

Upscale white liberals wring their hands about where all the black people went.

    Cunts.

  8. Northampton great for shoes, Banbury great for cock horses, white ladies, rings and bells. But Derby? What a shithole.

Upscale white liberals find it difficult to hire domestic servants.

  10. “But Derby? What a shithole.”

Isn’t there a horse race there? And frequent football matches?

  11. “Upscale white liberals find it difficult to hire domestic servants.”

But would they hire African-Americans? It’s not the 19th century, you know.

In SF? No, they’d hire Mexicans.

  13. The reported statistics do indeed tell a horrible, horrible story.

But the story is disgustingly incomplete…

What’s the story on people with red hair? Blonde hair? Blue eyes? grey-green eyes? people of stature (both unusually tall and unusually short)? And so forth? Why just skin color???

For folk who think that racism is a Very Bad Thing, they do rather bang on about it a lot, don’t they?

  14. Thomas Sowell has written extensively on the SF housing bubble and others in the US (and especially about what really caused them).

If tech companies’ workforces don’t look like a United Colors of Benetton advert that reflects absolutely nothing about their corporate culture. If they could get the polychromatic staff the SJWs shriekingly insist they should, then they would, if only to shut said SJWs up. Funnily enough, here in CR, white Yanks and Euros are at a premium in the software engineering industry. Somehow us pasty, hegemonic shitlords manage to get hired over the natives. It’s not positive discrimination in favour of Gringos, I can tell you that. If they could get a Tico, they would, like a shot. But you recruit from the pool of people with the skills. If more blacks and women want to work in tech (and note, this is very different from other people wanting more blacks and women to work in tech) then they’re going to have to get serious, knuckle down, and put in the the immensely hard graft of getting good at their craft. I reckon I’ve spent about fifty thousand hours writing software or developing ancillary skills in my life. That gives me quite an edge.

  16. @ BiCR
It’s not just the graft – some people are good at it and some aren’t. My big sister, who was (and is) good at maths was handicapped because she went to an all-girls school and there were very few good female maths and physics teachers compared to good female English/French/Latin/history/Geography/… teachers. She only became a Systems Analyst in her 30s. #1 son was too young to get a paid job in work placement in post-GCSE summer so he sorted out their website for a voluntary services group in the next-but-one town using skills that he had acquired without *any* formal tuiition.

  17. It’s noticeable that those who put through the policy of blight eradication were not evil or even stupid, but merely “misguided”. I wonder which political party they might have been affiliated to…
