Idiot

In pressing their case on hyperandrogenic athletes the IAAF have ensured hostile scrutiny will always fall on women who defy norms imposed by the powerful

This isn’t a norm imposed by the powerful. It’s that we’ve a division between male and female in most sports on the grounds that male and female differ physically. That’s the reason for the whole distinction in the first place.

Yes, at the meeting point there’s a certain blurriness. But because we are doing a classification thing here we need to have an actual classification.

We’re told this year that in the womens’ 800 metres the gold, silver and bronze medals were all won by those somewhere on that blurry line between being female and intersex.

Given that we are, originally, doing this dividing on the basis of the difference in physiques that might not be an entirely sustainable place for our classification line in that blurry area.

Yes, it is blurry. The gold medallist does not have ovaries but undescended testicles. Is that line in the right place?

  1. Surely the feminista would welcome equality in all sports, let them all compete against each other whether male, female or fruit of the forest..

  2. “Surely the feminista would welcome equality in all sports”

Sure you jest, the last thing feminists want is equality……………..they want equality when it suits them, and special treatment when it doesn’t.

  3. And anyway we should just let the SJWs get on with ruining women’s sport, in the name of feminism or something, because the more women who get to see that those nominally on their side don’t actually care a hoot about them, that they’re just pawns in a bigger game, the better.

  4. Isn’t it easy? Do a DNA test – if they have a Y chromosome then they are male, if not, then they are not.

Yes, they may express a different gender or no gender at all; but DNA is DNA.

  5. “Surely the feminista would welcome equality in all sports, let them all compete against each other whether male, female or fruit of the forest..”

This point is made over and over on these threads… but it’s a straw man because nobody (feminist or otherwise) denies that men are stronger.

The case in point is, more than anything, sad. This girl isn’t a cheat, she’s just been born in this ‘in between’ state and there’s no sporting category for that. Now she’s a football for a bunch of special interests and wailing loons (who, otherwise, give not one single shit about sport).

Tim is right. But the issue is out of reach of such thinking.

  6. The norms of the powerful in action, exerted upon these fucking horrible crocodiles. They operate in gangs, each with its own territory, and are ruled by a monstrous boss who gets the best of everything – first dibs on any food and ditto on the receptive ladies. The ladies get final choice of mate, sizing up the geezers to work out which one will provide the baddest offspring.

Suitable viewing for confused lefties. It’s worth watching anyway as an illustration of reality, as well as for the grisly, totally over-the-top violence and utter self-interest displayed by all concerned.

  7. Bloke in Germany in Israel

Olympic medals by definition are won by freaks of nature. People with physiques and physiology that is several standard deviations away from the mean. Plus the training, and the bloody mindedness to put in four years work for the possibility of 10 seconds of glory.

But being abnormal to start with is essential.

  8. But being abnormal to start with is essential.

In a group of women, I’m abnormal. Does that mean I missed out on winning various athletics meets when I was in my 20s?

  9. How would Katrina feel about a dozen blokes ignoring the “norm imposed by the powerful” and taking part in the women’s races, and winning them?

    SQUEAL!

  10. Women’s events are essentially handicap events because they cannot compete with the men and stand a chance. If that handicap really is a lack of testosterone then ‘women’ with high levels of testosterone shouldn’t be allowed to compete in the same way i wouldn’t be allowed to compete in the ‘no legs’ (or whatever its called) 100m sprint at the paralympics.

Regarding the nonsense about Phelps being a freak so whats the difference? The men’s isn’t a handicap event.

  11. Yes, it is blurry. The gold medallist does not have ovaries but undescended testicles. Is that line in the right place?

You sure about this ? I recall there was a leak of the test, but never this detail.

  12. The fairest thing for all would be for Caster to choose either to compete in the normal men’s race or the Paralympics with an appropriate handicap of say 790m for the 800m

  13. Thomas – lefty fuckers know all about violent self interested power politics – its what they do. It’s all they can do.

  14. These arguments are all getting a vigorous airing just now but the bit that I can’t quite fathom is why an in-between person would seek to compete at all.

One would enjoy an unfair advantage over women who were unambiguously women which is a less than admirable position and any prizes obtained under false pretences would be worthless.

What on earth is the point of that? And then the attendant and intrusive publicity and speculation about what you keep in your underwear should be a powerful deterrent. Yet still they come…

  15. I’m confused. Yes, easily done these days, I know.

Shouldn’t the tone of the article be that blokes will do anything, absolutely anything, to infiltrate wimmins sport and ruin it?

The fact that it is predicated on a male powerful ruling elite bringing shame and grief to, er, wimmin seems a bit strange.

“…I can’t quite fathom is why an in-between person would seek to compete at all….

… any prizes obtained under false pretences would be worthless”

Being cynical here, I think that a (say) $50,000 prize for winning a race under such false pretences would be worth $50,000.

  17. The Paralympics have all sorts of clever categorisations to allow people with different handicaps to compete on a (roughly) level field. So we just need several different competitions for each women’s event, one for each band of testosterone levels. Problem solved + more medals, yippee!

PS I’ve always thought that the UK’s medals haul in the Paralympics amounts to “our disabled athletes are slightly less disabled than yours”.

  18. Meissen Bison

I’d guess that the fact that all three of the intersex people who did well in the 800m came from poor countries and had no other way to do well explain why they are competing despite the obvious unfairness.

  19. “I’ve always thought that the UK’s medals haul in the Paralympics amounts to “our disabled athletes are slightly less disabled than yours”.”

That, and the fact that our disabled are richer and have more access to lawyers to game the disabled sports rating system. If Mr Disabled Kenyan is told he’s not disabled enough to compete, thats that. If Mr Disabled Brit is told the same he calls a lawyer, or threatens to.

  20. The norm may be imposed by the powerful, but it is unquestionably imposed for the less powerful (women in general) who would otherwise have no chance (the Olympic 800m winning time wouldn’t have been fast enough to win a UK regional men’s race).
As for it being just one molecule, testosterone- well that was what Floyd Landis was disqualified for using. I seem to recall Lance Armstrong specialised in one molecule- perhaps they should be reinstated.
Finally if nothing is done about this expect womens sports to be dominated by women with testicles- I’m sure the Russians and Chinese are searching for them already.

‘This point is made over and over on these threads… but it’s a straw man because nobody (feminist or otherwise) denies that men are stronger.’

Irt’s not a straw man; it’s being compared implicitly with various other areas of life where men are objectively better (being stronger), and yet women are supposedly undervalued or underpaid.

I would lay very good odds – for instance – that a male supermarlket shelf stacker stacks more shit on shelves per hour than a woman. Can he be paid more? No.

That being said, if there’s cash money at stake for athletics events, why can’t we all have a go? Seems a little unfair to apply a sex bar to the long jump if not to less glamorous activities.

  22. “If Mr Disabled Brit is told the same he calls a lawyer, or threatens to.”

Much cheaper to call the BBC. He’ll have a result within hours, at no cost.

  23. “I would lay very good odds – for instance – that a male supermarlket shelf stacker stacks more shit on shelves per hour than a woman. Can he be paid more? No.”

There is no reason why a woman cannot stack shelves as efficiently as a man. It’s about efficiency, technique, and general work rate.. not strength. It’s incomparable with elite sports.

There are jobs where strength does matter. And yes, the rules say you cannot pay women less for doing them.. but those jobs, on the whole, are better paid than less physical jobs (cleaners vs bin men). It’s an imperfect system, obviously. But weedy men win out over stronger women too. These are not the elites.. not the strongest and the fittest.. they’re a mixed bag.

  24. There is no reason why a woman cannot stack shelves as efficiently as a man. It’s about efficiency, technique, and general work rate.. not strength.

    And it’s about height.

Not saying that no woman can reach high enough to stack the top shelves in a supermarket, but on average a man will be able to do so more easily, therefore more efficiently.

  25. The top shelves in supermarkets are, quite deliberately, put at a height that most women are perfectly well able to deal with. Because if they weren’t then that would reflect very badly on those awful modern capitalists we rather tend to think know what they’re doing.

  26. You must visit different supermarkets from me then. The shelves in the one I go to most often are shoulder height on me, and I’m 5′ 11″.
