Not really Daniel, no, not really

Usain Bolt’s party antics only adds to his pulling power
DANIEL JOHNSON

His party antics are him demonstrating his pulling power perhaps?

  1. Lots of comments in the celebrity media about Bolt’s girlfriend being very sanguine about the whole thing, but she can’t exactly say anything as she hasn’t landed her multi-millionaire fish yet…

No doubt this will be brought up regularly after they are married…if she gets that far.

  2. ‘He is supposed to inspire the next generation’. Uh, what do you think he’s doing? ‘Hey kids, run really fast, be a bit of a showman and you’ll be rich and knee-deep in clunge’. What’s more inspiring to teenage boys than that?

That said, Bolt’s world record will depress runners for decades. Unless you are 6’5″ or above you are not going to break it. That stride length is a massive advantage. Blake is equal 2nd fastest man ever at 100m, and is over 1/10th of a second off.

When Michael Johnson destroyed the field in 19.32 at Atlanta, it put the hairs up on the back of my neck. I thought that would stand for decades. And a completely different stride profile.

Sometimes, rather than depress, these moments can inspire?

Yeah, I thought I’d never see his 400m record broken in my lifetime (he absolutely smashed the previous one), but that South African has just gone and done it. As for his 200m record, I noticed when Bolt beat it he had to run a proper race and not start arseing about towards the finish: he knew he was up against a serious record. Bolt’s 100m running is just incredible, that stride just takes him clear away from the rest after 60m. He is probably the only 100m runner in decades that can recover from a bad start.

  5. Nothing depress track coaches more than Bolt’s terrible form. Yes he’s fast, but his form is utterly terribad. Coaches have been saying that he would’ve been faster if he actually improved his form.
