Two senior North Korean officials were executed with an anti-aircraft gun in early August on the orders of Kim Jong-un, South Korea’s JoongAng Ilbo newspaper reported, citing people it did not identify.
Ri Yong Jin, a senior official in the education ministry — possibly minister — was arrested for dozing off during a meeting with Kim and charged with corruption before being killed, the paper said. Former Agriculture Minister Hwang Min was purged over a proposed project seen as a direct challenge to Kim’s leadership, it said.
Depends if they fired it at them, or dropped it on them.
Did they also take out their backing singers and their dog?
The Curajus State
We could have a lot to learn from the Chinese.
What’s the calibre of HMS Belfast’s main armament?
Could provide some motivation for the civil servants over Brexit?
Oh no, we’re going to have another discussion about the merits of various types of ammunition.
Can’t we talk about squirrels instead?
That would be the North Korean Chinese? Rather than the Chinese Chinese?
6″, but I’ll bet even if the guns were in working order, we don’t have any ammo left.
I thought it was people in squirrel suits, or am I getting my memes confused?
Don’t they occasionally do gun salutes from Belfast? Is so they must have blanks and if someone’s close enough it would enough damage to kill them.
BiND: strategic defence review. It’s just two naval apprentices banging a very large coconut.
Nope. They use naval saluting guns. Not the main armament. The saluting guns (iirc, it’s been a long time since I fired on, going in to the Port of London, by chance) are 2″ blank firers. Small black cannon you get issued and bolt under the bridge wings and on the flight deck.
Somebody more recent may be able to update you.
Sounds dubious, there’s no mention of it here:

Am I the only one that pictured the departed strung up on giant kites? If one is going to use anti-aircraft guns there is no reason to not go all the way.
I wouldn’t fancy being on deck when they test HMS Belfast’s guns with live shells. Or even in Southwark.
Belfast , apocryphally, performs a salute when a jury at Southwark Crown Court convicts.
The point being that such juries do so rarely.
agree with TW, What sounds a bit gruesome,,, can still be viewed upon as humane. If you accept that capital punishment is ok then death by exploding thorax and cranium is probably up there with the better ways to go.

I thought it might be a bit like clay pigeon shooting.
LY, I imagined them being towed behind planes at a few thousand feet, otherwise why be so particular about anti-aircraft guns? Though hot air balloons might also have worked, if death from ground impact was acceptable: http://www.historychannel.com.au/this-day-in-history/hot-air-balloon-duel/
