Not an exhortation which fills one with confidence

Forget the economics of Hinkley Point, the politics are convincing

The world’s badly enough cocked up by people shouting never mind the economics, just look at the politics on this one.

  1. So Much For Subtlety

What politics? I don’t believe the new Guardian-lite Telegraph cares about thumbing their nose at the Greens. Do they mean that it involves giving huge amounts of money to our French “partners”? Our new masters the Chinese?

Is that the sort of politics that is working?

I believe in nuclear power. But this deal looks so poor that it should be cancelled.

  2. The worlds most expensive electricity from an as yet unproven reactor design. Seriously.
May has fucked up royally, she should have cancelled this, HS2 and reversed Cameron’s foreign aid give away.
And don’t get me started on her Brexit shenanigans.

  3. EDF makes my own outfit look functional. True, the French are (or at least, were) good at knocking out their own nuclear power stations, but this will turn into a job creation programme for otherwise unemployable Frenchmen.

  4. Ignore economics in favor of the politics?

Ignore the engineers in favor of the sales people?

I say, fuck you and your O-rings. Launch!

  5. May is a monumentally stupid grade C cow. Stupid beyond the shallows of stupidity or even the continental shelf of watery lamebrained sludge. She is an ugly dweller in the inky black deep sea of dumbness such that even Jacque Cousteau would throw her back.

On hearing that the Hinckly Point elephant -is-a -gubmint-designed-mouse “plan” was to be reviewed I had a brief glimmer of hope. Perhaps even a stupid cow can occasionally listen to advisors with a glimmer of sense and do the right thing.

But no. The febrile leopard-skin-print skank reviews it and thinks that the expensive farrago is a good idea.

Machiavelli calls it right. All of Camoron’s shite should be as finished as he is.

But what can be expected by a corporate socialist BluLabour bitch playing dress-up once again. This time in her Thatcher outfit.

  6. So what is the alternative to it going ahead? Is there another nuke reactor project in the sidelines elsewhere awaiting political approval by the PM? If this one was cancelled could another go live within a few months of when this was to go live?

Or would the next 20 years be spent trying to get support for a different reactor at another site even when the lights go out?

The sensible alternative is The South Korean APR-1400 which works, has been exported and costs much less.
