I don’t know – its Australia. Maybe the real news is that he was *only attacked 3 times by a shark*. While in the shower.

The odd thing is that there are a lot of protesters who want to protect sharks – to forbid anti shark nets and other such safety devices.

From Wikipedia:
Roy Cleveland Sullivan (February 7, 1912 – September 28, 1983) was a United States park ranger in Shenandoah National Park in Virginia. Between 1942 and 1977, Sullivan was hit by lightning on seven different occasions and survived all of them.
They were probably dropping in. Sharks (and other surfers) don’t like that.

Not odd. Activists who probably hate humans in general, let alone surfers, agitating for action which puts themselves at no additional risk whatsoever.

And of course the sharks are the Evil Ones..
The fact that it’s pretty stupid to go and splash around in a patch of sea that’s *known* to be a hunting ground for large, effective sea predators ( tiger and nurse sharks there mostly) never seems to connect with the Surfer Dudes.
It’s always “Poor bloke got Bit, Bad Shark!! Panic!!” , never “Stupid mcStupidface does Stupid². “

I’m with Grikath on this one- sharks roam this area of the sea, hunting for torpedo shaped prey.
Bloke goes out for a paddle, looking torpedo shaped, complains when bitten.
It isn’t the sharks who are being dumb here

I live near an area of trails where there’s usually a death every years on average and mountain rescue are called out repeateadly each week in the summer as people get lost or hurt on trails. Phone coverage goes even before you reach the car park for the trailhead and you think people would learn, but they don’t ever think it will happen to them.

From Wikipedia:
john malpas, that’s because sharks are endangered. Australians, to the best of my knowledge, aren’t.
On second thoughts, I think I’d rather be in the sea:
