My God! The Horror! The Horror!

A review of the tweets from retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, president-elect Donald Trump’s selection for national security adviser, shows a freewheeling use of social media that included sharp criticism of Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton

Republican selection for NSA criticised Democratic candidate for President.

Ain’t that just totally shitsville, a horrible breach of democratic norms?

  1. So Much For Subtlety

After all, we all remember how nice Van Jones and Eric Holder were to Bush and Romney.

Having presided over one of the most ideologically extreme, uncompromising, one sided administrations in recent times, it is odd to see Obama’s fan boys complaining about Trump.

The only surprise is that this isn’t the Guardian

  2. Got to look on the bright side: Melenia Trump is probably not gay. Poor Sophie would be driven out of business if she discriminated, and I wouldn’t want her destitute 🙁

  3. I guess I could see this being problematic if Flynn had been named Attorney General. But as NSA he won’t have anything to do with prosecuting anyone, so it’s really irrelevant.

JerryC – “I guess I could see this being problematic if Flynn had been named Attorney General.”

But look at who has been named Attorney General. Reagan couldn’t even get Jeff Sessions on the District Court. He had said:

One of those lawyers, J. Gerald Hebert, testified that Sessions had referred to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) as “un-American” and “Communist-inspired” because they “forced civil rights down the throats of people”.

Which seems perfectly sensible to me. He also made a joke about the Klan and marijuana smoking. Not so sensible. A criminal lawyer, in both senses, also claimed Sessions had called him “boy”. Something that witnesses denied.

So that was enough to get him rejected. For the District Court. Now he is going to be AG? So much for the power of the ACLU! The NAACP! The mainstream media!

Who would have thought that someone called Jefferson Beauregard Sessions would hold a Cabinet position?

(It may be a co-incidence, but Jefferson Davis was the President of the Confederate States of America, and General G. J. Beauregard fired the first shots of the Civil War)

  5. BBC had the fun heading on a story….Trump nominee abhors Islamic extremists…not sure what they were trying to say as that would seem a sensible position to most of the population.
Also love how they are dragging up unproven accusations from 30 years ago on Sessions, you’d think if he was that bad they could find something more recent

The man has years of public service. If there was any chance he was biased or unable to do his job, there would be a paper trial a mile wide stretching from Bath to Glasgow.

But a decade ago these accusations would have been career killers. Paula Deen had her entire career destroyed because she admitted she had used the n word once, in the 70s, after she had been mugged by a vibrant.

Trump really is changing the landscape.
