S2 – surely you are talking about the effects of marijuana. I’ve never met a toker who didn’t have a sense of superiority simply because he was a toker. Cokers, on the other hand, just talk a lot of nonsense very fast, repeating themselves ad infinitum.
I had an Irish colleague once who thought that the Irish banking crisis could be attributed more or less in its entirety to a cocaine-induced sense of invincibility.
My own theory is that the red-eyed paranoid craziness of the far Left, exemplified by much of what one sees below the line at Comment is Free, is attributable to the rather more persistent and deleterious effects of marijuana.
It explains why everyone talks loudly all the time.

I know people who use, recreationally but enthusiastically, and they are not coherent enough to write that sort of nonsense.
I always assumed it was because some people ate too much fibre in order to keep their bowels regular. So in the end everything has been purged. Or to put it bluntly, their brains have turned to sh!t and flowed down the toilet pan.

My builder in Devon uses Dartmoor Legend Cask Ale as his recreational drug of choice. My (late) London builder’s preference was for cocaine. Almost certainly income differential.

First time I met a coker (iirc I was 37) I was rather unsettled. When he left, I asked friend about his behaviour – “He’s on coke, makes you hyper”.
tbh I prefer pot users: they sit in the corner mumbling which is considerably less annoying than a Duracell bunny running around shouting “look at me”
TBH Antwerp is a much better place for a weekend than London. Fewer hen parties, stag nights, stretch limos and general air of loadsamoney entitlement. In Antwerp, classy restaurants, bars serving much better beer than London, esp across the road from the de Koninck brewery, as well as the naval knocking shops. London without the Street-Porter effect.
Both S2 and Diogenes are correct in their own way. I generally find that the main difference between blow and puff is the time between my meeting someone who’s a regular consumer and thinking, “get away from me you monumentally tedious fuck”. With cokeheads it’s near-instantaneous whereas with stoners it’s a couple of minutes. But they both tend to be cunts.
Funnily enough, although all drugs, alcohol included, depress your executive function (decision-making, planning, impulse control etc.) after you stop taking them it returns to baseline, with the notable exception of marijuana. That permanently rewires your brain and even ten years after cessation of use, executive function will still not have recovered. So the idea of the brain-fried pothead is not a myth.
I’ve led a sheltered life. As far as I’m aware I’ve never met anyone who had just taken or regularly takes coke. I’ve met a few who claimed yo be on a pot high, but they always struck me as putting on the high for effect.
I also agree with BiCR, anecdotal but the middle aged marijuana takers I know are all missing something. Pleasant people, one’s our cleaner, but definitely not right and interestingly they acknowledge that long term drug taken had an effect. However the correlation could be running the other way.
