I thought this was what everyone worried about, not celebrated

US Secretary of State John Kerry has been given the Legion d’Honneur, France’s highest honour, with his French counterpart calling him “the most French of American officials”.

  1. So Much For Subtlety

They mean it as a compliment. But it is not.

He remains a gigolo of limited intelligence or skills who is using his wife’s first husband’s money to indulge in his refusal to hold down a real job while hogging the spotlight.

So, yeah, they are not wrong.

  2. Watching this nobody plus assorted eurotrash alongside their failed ‘Rebel Alliance’ trying to lecture Assad and Putin on the future of Syria gave me a real schadenboner.

  3. Unlike many of his generation of US pols, he didn’t avoid service in Vietnam. But he was such a dolt that he threw away the political advantage.

  4. Bloke in Costa Rica

He was, actually, in Vietnam. But he spent most of his time there acquiring minor but politically-advantageous scratches and the rest indulging in Walter Mitty fantasies (remember Christmas in Cambodia and the Magic Hat?). On his return he used his time there to betray his fellow troops and to snuggle up to vile Communist apologists. He should have been court martialed.

  5. If he ends up in the middle of the Atlantic without a flotation device that’s ok with me. If we are unlucky and he ends up in Frome we might need to nuke the town from orbit.

Kerry: “Frome is the contraction for French Rome.”
