For the avoidance of doubt let me make it clear why I say that. To be credible a professional body must be fair, open, reasonable, transparent and accountable. By implication it must avoid prejudice, bias, offence and opacity. And since a professional body can only work through its employees they must be seen to embrace and uphold these standards. That cannot now be said of Andrew Gambier, who wrote deeply prejudicial and offensive material, sufficient to justify professional sanction, from behind a veil of secrecy designed to veil his identity from his own professional institute who also happened to be his employer.
I have no desire to see anyone out of work.
But I’m going to try to hound the writer of FCA blog out of his current job just as I did his last one.
Sod off Ritchie.
Hopefully Mr Gambier will be instructing his solicitors over this attack.
Sanctimonious cunt.
Hasn’t he written some pretty offensive material about professional bodies? For example, accusing HMRC of being in criminal conspiracy with tax evaders?
I have no desire to see anyone out of work.
Citation needed.
‘who wrote deeply prejudicial and offensive material’
Would any regular reader of the blog who is familiar with psychiatric terminology be able to provide a technical term for a complete lack of self-awareness? The closest I can come is NPD/ megalomania?
A million years ago we used to buy baked potatoes at a takeaway called Spud-U-Like. Now we have Spud-U-Loathe.
I presume the LHTD objected to this kind of thing
“Retweeted Christie Malry (@fcablog):
Labour has borrowed more than crap economics from Richard Murphy. Everyone who disagrees with them is a troll who must be purged.”
In fact this is an instructive little trot through it

This is the clause Andrew Gambier apparently breached. Ritchie breaches it every day!
SECTION 150 – PROFESSIONAL BEHAVIOUR
150.1 The principle of professional behaviour imposes an obligation on all
professional accountants* to comply with relevant laws and regulations and
avoid any action that the professional accountant* knows or should know
may discredit the profession. This includes actions that a reasonable and
informed third party, weighing all the specific facts and circumstances
available to the professional accountant* at that time, would be likely to
conclude adversely affects the good reputation of the profession.
Professional accountants* shall conduct themselves with courtesy and
consideration towards all with whom they come into contact when
performing their work.
* See Definitions for parts A, B and C
150.2 In marketing and promoting themselves and their work, professional
accountants* shall not bring the profession into disrepute. Professional
accountants shall be honest and truthful and not:
(a) Make exaggerated claims for the services they are able to offer, the
qualifications they possess, or experience they have gained; or
(b) Make disparaging references or unsubstantiated comparisons to the
work of others.
Sam
Well spotted.
Someone could write a novel on Murphy’s “relationship” with section 150…
Professional accountants shall be honest and truthful and not:
(a) Make exaggerated claims for the services they are able to offer, the qualifications they possess, or experience they have gained; or
(b) Make disparaging references or unsubstantiated comparisons to the work of others.
Splutter.

No no no. You are all wrong. Any professional who breaches their code of ethics must suffer some penalty; which could well encompass being barred from holding certainprofessional positions.
On the other hand our impressionable young people in higher education should be left to navigate their way through the falsehoods of a proven libeller, without any warning being offered by the establishment employing him.
“Andrew Gambier, who wrote deeply prejudicial and offensive material”
Or
“Andrew Gambier, who repeatedly made me look like a stupid cvnt by pointing out my endless failings as an accountant”
All great contributions – obviously as anyone who reads a lot of fiction or who has studied history will know evil, or the capacity for it is pretty much infinite and eternal so we should not be surprised that someone who is the closest thing in the blogosphere to its embodiment in pure form should be so vindictive to someone who, as Andrew C pointed out, repeatedly showed him up to be the most ignorant commentator extant in cyberspace today.
The relentlessness of his malevolence is why I often express concern if Tim is offline for a short time even though he is of course no doubt safe. Murphy would love to be in a position to defenestrate Tim in similar fashion to Christie. Truly a monster of our age.
I wonder where claiming to have “invented country-by-country reporting” lies with regard to 150.2(A)?
@Van_Patten – I suspect had Tim been employed his bosses would have received endless abusive emails demanding he be terminated for unprofessional behaviour. But then, the Murphmeister himself couldn’t hack it in a Big4 and found that the only boss who could stand him was himself.
It seems that things have been a little fraught in Downham Market of late.

Reminder of another example of professional misconduct that should be brought to the notice of the accountancy profession:

Slightly more expensive that one as well!
Machiavelli, have they discovered that the sun does not shine out of Murphy’s arse despite his own delusions thereto?
In the comments, Murphy says: “I see real prospect of my own departure from the UK in the next few years”.
Robert – a bunch of us will help him pack!
Robert
Thanks for this – the subsequent comment brightened my day!
‘Which strategy?
The one for my move (get a job with an EU university using my Irish passport)?
Or that for the UK leaving the EU?’
As far as I am aware the fat cretin cannot speak another European language so that pretty much precludes employment anywhere other than Ireland, and while I know the Irish system has had its problems they surely cannot be that desperate for social science academics……
Tim – not sure if you saw this in the post on Social care – conscious I don’t want to be seen to be giving too much oxygen to him but its hilarious!
His solution to the social care crisis…….
‘First, raise corporation tax to 23%. This would have no impact at all on UK employment, just as the cuts in it did not. It might raise £6 billion.
Second, cut higher rate pension relief. That would save between £8 billion and £10 billion.
Then eliminate ISA tax relief. What is that about? That’s another £2.6 billion saved.
And get rid of the savings rate of income tax which also leaves £1,000 of income tax free.
If you want more, get rid of VCTs. EIS, EMI and other such schemes none of which can be shown to have any real benefit.’
Too many gems to appreciate in one sitting – I mean the guy is just the gift that keeps on giving
I like the bit about “Professional accountants shall conduct themselves with courtesy and consideration towards all with whom they come into contact when performing their work.”
There’s a chartered accountant who is regularly rude to and about me in widely-read online forums. I could cite a large number of examples of me being civil and him being insulting. Should I complain to his employer? 😉
In the comments, Murphy says: “I see real prospect of my own departure from the UK in the next few years”.
Alas, it will never happen. He has form for bullshitting. Remember when he stormed off in a huff about the Guardian and said he’d never read it again, and was in it a few weeks later?
Still, we can fervently hope. It won’t stop him posting shit though – you can do that from anywhere.
Did he really, Rob? That’s pretty funny. Chortle.
He’s an embarrassment to the term ‘professional behaviour’ regardless of the profession, I assume he won’t relinquish his accounting designation despite his attacks on the profession as its the only real qualification he has.
If I stepped in him, I’d throw away the shoes.
John miller,
Very good. Consider it stolen.

“so we should not be surprised that someone who is the closest thing in the blogosphere to its embodiment in pure form should be so vindictive”
The Murphatollah is nasty and stupid, and he espouses ideas that would have very evil consequences; but if you think that he is the blogosphere’s purest embodiment of evil, you have led a very sheltered cyber-life. There’s some extremely dark stuff out there…
Theo
Obviously there is in the Dark web and even within the moire accessible corners of t’internet. Used to be able to access it with some ease through a site know as ‘hatewatch’ and even now using SPLC or some such links will get you easy access to what they consider ‘hate speech’ I agree. Such people don’t tend to get regarded as world leading experts though is my point, but of course you are right – I was feeling a near- Ecksian surge of indignation at the fat fool which might have led me to overstate things….
VP
Quite understand. Most of us here get a surges of indignation. Anyway, do keep up your enjoyable posts about the Murphatollah!
Ooh, I think I know this one!
Is it “For the same reason City University employs someone as Professor of Practice in International Political Economy who once libelled a public figure”?
