This is a good one. Hillary Clinton warns of fake news

Hillary Clinton issued a stern warning on Thursday against the proliferation of fake news, branding it an epidemic with “real world consequences” that must be addressed in order to protect the nation’s democracy.

The point being that the left really, really, wouldn’t like it if “news” were properly checked for compatibility with the universe.

Wealth is as unequally distributed as the 19th century? Bollocks, we’ve an entire welfare state that redistributes wealth and income and you’re not counting that, are you? Minimum wage doesn’t cause job losses? Nonsense. 14% in poverty? Bullcrap, that’s before the things we do to alleviate poverty. Climate change might be a problem but it’s not an immediate nor catastrophic one.

And that not one penny on the debt? You weren’t going to close the deficit so you were going to increase the debt.

If the “news” were limited to what is explicitly factual the left wouldn’t have an election platform.

  1. …being under sniper fire in Bosnia, being named after Sir Edmund Hillary, and…and…and….

Let alone all the fake news about Trump…

They’re losing their ability to control the narrative, and they’re trying anything, just anything, to get their grips back on it.

  2. The left have been post-truth at least since the first reports of increased tractor production in the USSR. It’s the competition that they don’t like.

  3. We live in interesting times in that the players tell us what they have been doing when accusing their opponents.
Nearly fell off my chair when remainers accused the leave campaign of lying…

  4. Is ‘fake news’ worse than being a lying, crooked bitch with blood on your hands? Isn’t the “Benghazi riots were caused by an anti-Islamic video the biggest fake news story of the century?

  5. This “fake news” thing is such a whine.

Translation: the media have always lied quite a bit, but been very good at presenting news with some elan so that you don’t notice, that the lies are less obvious. They wear suits, have “nice” voices, use professional typography. What they don’t like is that there’s a load of news out there written in Comic Sans by the barbarian hoards in flyover states that’s making them unemployed.

  6. “Minimum wage doesn’t cause job losses? Nonsense.”

Very clearly there are jobs that are lost as minimum wages bite. But whether there are net job losses remains something that clever, serious economists still argue over the evidence for, isn’t it?

  7. The fake news stuff is just the US equivalent of “post-truth politics” here. It’s a refusal to admit that popular disdain for centre left politics is genuine or long-lived.

In neither instance do the people bleating about these things have any insight into what was actually going on in voters’ heads in the polling booths.

  8. If a lesbian cyborg was planning to stand for mayor of Dalston, that would surely NOT be post truth but verité noire.

  9. Sorry.

If a lesbian cyborg were etc.

Just because it’s an idea for a story in the Dalston Mercury, that’s no reason to ride roughshod over the language.

  10. It’s just yet another repackaging of Chomsky’s obnoxious “manufactured consent” bollocks. They think anyone who disagrees with them has been brainwashed. IT’S THE ONLY EXPLANATION!

  11. Mal Reynolds (Serenity)

Their sheer inability to consider that their Islingtonista echo chambered mindset might not perfectly explain the world is mindblowing. The only possible reason people could think differently to them is brainwashing. Not just different values, finding different facts, viewing outcomes differently etc. i.e. standard reasons why rational people disagree. And since brainwashing is the only reason to disagree with them, then any news that does not agree with them must be fake. QED.

  12. For decades, Hillary was just the bitchy wife of Bill Clinton. No one liked her. But because of the election, the legacy press is going to tell us what she said.

People still don’t like her; people still don’t care what she says. I hope this “Hillary said” shit doesn’t go on much longer.

Well put. But she and her parasites are seeking a ‘role’….She could retire gracefully (well, more or less), but she’ll soldier on as a crusader for women seeking power…etc, etc…
    Pass the sick bag.

  14. The left’s cockrot belief that anyone who doesn’t support/agree with the rest of their cockrot beliefs MUST have been brainwashed is nothing new.

It was so in the 1930s. 20s and before. Back to the earliest days of socialist shite.

The faces may change but the arrogance and wickedness remains constant.

That’s so good I think I might have to steal it.

Let’s hope so; it should keep the Dems out of power for a decade.

“False consciousness” is one of the ur-beliefs of socialism. The latest iteration is that women didn’t vote for Clinton because of “internalised misogyny” as opposed to the real reason, which is that she is a cunt.

Ooo! I do hope so. The Trump vs. Clinton election campaign of 2020 will be a bloody riot if this last year or two is anything to go by.

However, despite Clinton’s egotistical hunger for the Whitehouse I doubt she will be given another run (even though she lost out to Obama for the 2008 nomination), by 2020 she’ll be 73 and her health was an issue this time around, so imagine what it would be like in 2020.

The problem with the 2016 election was that too many people just wouldn’t vote for Hillary, so why would 2020 be any different?
