A number of people have asked me what I would do if I was to head HMRC
…
Last, I am assuming tax policy is a Treasury issue and that HMRC’s task is implementation
…
So, for example, it would consider why we spend so much subsidising pensions and whether this pays for society.
So, the first thing is to dive into policy then.
Sigh.
How would he get a head that large our of his arse?
his absurd preening over this is hilarious. What a pompous, completely unself-aware twat he is.
He’s getting desperate. He had a falling out with Corbyn/McDonnell on the grounds they didn’t give him a peerage and he thought they would soon be replaced. He was hoping a new Labour leader would deliver the peerage and some lucrative advisory work, but then Corbyn got re-elected and looks likely to continue for a while, and now Ritchie’s is backtracking.
John McDonnell seems to be the subject of a major suck offensive at the moment.
Tongue incoming, John!
A maniac
Let’s hope hope he makes peace with Corbyn and MacDonell and gets to write their manifesto section on taxes. That should successfully drive a silver stake through Labour’s heart at the next election.
“A number of people have asked me what I would do if I was to head HMRC”
“If I was head of HMRCing
“Every day would be the first day of spring
Every heart would have a new song to sing
And we’d sing of the joy every morning would bring
If I was Head of HMRCturd
Every man would be as free as a bird
Every voice would be a voice to be heard
Take my word we would treasure each day that occurred
My world would be a beautiful place
Where we would weave such wonderful dreams
My world would wear a smile on its face
Like the man in the moon has when the moon beams
“If I was Head of HMRCend
Every man would say the world was his friend
There’d be happiness that no man could end
No my friend, not if I ruled the HMRCaye
Every head would be held up high
There’d be sunshine in everyone’s sky
If the day ever dawned when I ruled the HMRCurled
Apologies to Tony Bennett
So, the first thing is to dive into policy then.
Something Treasury would no doubt welcome with open arms.
Surely his first act would be to recruit 20m tax inspectors
Is the idea of putting Ritchie in charge a punishment?
Then of course everything that goes wrong at HMRC can be blamed on its head… by everyone who has come across the guy.
I’d love to see him get the job. After that who would ever bother to listen to what he says about tax?
“A number of people have asked me what I would do if I was to head HMRC”
Did they have names like Hugh Janus?
Come to think of it, the head of HMRC would be on the opposite side of the table to the union. Except the union expects payment for their support….
Rob wins the thread.
“Rob wins the thread.” + 1
Just shows how little he knows. One of the main functions of HMRC is to point out to Treasury all the little tax wrinkles that tax payers are exploiting and which may need correction. Treasury’s handle on tax policy is very high level.
Imagine the institutional backlash, he’s not exactly been polite about them
