American women go on strike to highlight their clout
That clout was how much? GDP dipped? The electricity went off? Sammiches were not made?
Of course, if consumer spending dropped that would be serious but anyone think that consumption was part of their strike instead of production?
About 1,000 people gathered
Oh.
Germany’s Lufthansa airline had six all-female crews flying from several cities in the country to Berlin. Sweden’s women’s football team replaced the names on the backs of their jerseys with tweets from Swedish women. Finland announced a new $160,000 International Gender Equality Prize. Women also held rallies in Tokyo and Madrid.
Mmmhm, hmmm
Actress Anne Hathaway spoke during 2017 International Women’s Day at United Nations Headquarters.
Pointy elbows.
Out here things are as they always are.
Nobody gives a fuck about what goes in in DC, NYC and LA.
International Men’s Day is Tomorrow.
Who’s with me …!!!??
International LQGBTQUIRTUIOP-whatever Day is the next day.
Who’s with us!!!???
My gal is currently making me dinner. I’m still working.
Who’s with us!!!???
Whaddyawewant?
Normal lives!
Whendawewonem?
Now!
It was like a council strike, not noticeable.
Oh, was that today?
Whut? There was a strike by women?
Turns out there are a lot fewer embitter lesbians upset by Hillary’s loss than people thought.
Not such a surprise really.
Still, from the General Strike of 1926 to the Pussy Strike of 2017 is a bit of a decline.
Hard to tell which thread this belongs to – this one or the one of Tinder-for-the-Stars:

Cate Blanchett’s moral compass is her vagina? Actually that may not be as crazy as it sounds. I have a more traditional form of morality but it is similar in at least one way – if my genitals tell me to do something, I usually assume that I should think twice. Of course then I usually go ahead and do it, which leads to lots of life lessons about strippers.
But, hey, whatever works for ya baby.
In the meantime I wonder why people listen to these people
Women have always been strange and always will be.
Oddly enough, they think the same of men.
Why are men and women so different and strange to each other?
I shall sever the Gordian Knot with an adult refreshment. Or two. My wife as well. Hard working mental machinery requires lubrication.
Apparently International Men’s Day is November 19th.
But my wife didn’t write it on the calendar so I forgot….
Ann Pettifor was on Radio 4, egregiously and mendaciously lying about economics. And interrupting the sensible economist who had politely listened to her emiserating drivel.
Quelle change?
Wait, I should have been on strike yesterday?
@SMFS: “Cate Blanchett’s moral compass is her vagina?”
Maybe that’s just where she keeps it when orienteering?
It’s not clear whether Cate Blanchett’s moral compass is in her vagina or is her vagina.
I volunteer on behalf of the readers of this blog to check.
It’s International Thursday today, and Friday tomorrow.
She’s doing some serious kegel exercises. Or is this like a ship’s compass?
I’m worried her compass might be thrown off by someone’s pussy magnet.
Sorry, I thought the message was that women weren’t governed by their hormones. Did I miss a memo again?

The International women’s something or other is in a bit of bother over the terrorist involved in it in the US.
SMFS,
> I wonder why people listen to these people.
It’s incredibly easy to tune them out:
1) Don’t read the Guardian.
2) Don’t attend a liberal arts college in the USA.
If it weren’t for bloggers like David Thompson, I’d remain blissfully ignorant of these matters.
They exhumed Mrs Shakespeare?
Personally I think this is about the correct reaction to International Wimmins’ Day:

Andrew M,

I really can’t get that bothered about the fuss about campus censorship. I know I should, but it’s not like censorship on campus really matters. “But people’s ideas will be blocked”. Right, ever heard of this thing called The Internet?
And if it’s anything like when I was at college, almost no-one goes to events at the student union, unless there’s a band on.
@BiW
I think the issue is becoming that University Leaderships are getting a Stockholm Syndrome.
Remember their resolute reaction against the Rhodes Must Go race-trolls?
Exactly: LMF
