Won’t this be fun

Mike Pence, the US Vice President, reportedly used a private email account to conduct public business as governor of Indiana, at times discussing sensitive matters and homeland security issues, and the account was hacked last summer.

Emails released to the Indianapolis Star in response to a public records request show Mr Pence communicated via his personal AOL account with top advisers on topics ranging from security gates at the governor’s residence to the state’s response to terrorism attacks across the globe.

Indiana law does not prohibit public officials from using personal email accounts, the Star said.

The fun coming from watching the contortions as this is different from Hillary. Because it is obviously different, we just need to wait for SlateSalonVoxThinkProgressAlternet to agree on the reason why it is.

  1. Is contortions really the right word? Black is white with these fuckers and they have neither reason nor shame. They’ll contradict themselves five times a day without breaking sweat. If Trump cracked cold fusion in his bath they’d berate him for destroying miners’ jobs.

  2. There will of course be an equal and opposite contortion from the Trumpkins, which will be just as amusing.

  3. Transparency is the way.

Put all of Pence’s emails in the public domain–they already are if you are a hacker .

And put ALL of Killery’s emails in the public domain also.

So that the MSM trying to roast Pence (while ignoring the corruption, treachery and incompetence of one of the most corrupt and evil women who has ever lived ) will rebound on them. It is doing anyway but no reason not to stoke the fire.

Indeed Trump could put Pence on trial –and be rid of a deadweight neo-con-so long as Killery gets her trial also.

It shouldn’t be a problem, just one more piece of cognitive dissonance to add to the 1000s already carried round in their heads.

Matthew L, you may have missed this bit.

  6. I seem to remember quite a few calls for the death penalty or its equvalent for Hillary on here, and at many other venues, when she did the same.

Shall we see the consistency on the altRight that they mockingly expect of the left? Oh, wait…

    Yup. It’s a non-starter, but don’t worry, it’s already half-way around the world.

If Trump so much as farts they will be asking for impeachment.

If they had dedicated just 10% of the current effort to Hillary….

BiG, you may have missed this bit.

  9. “Indiana law does not prohibit public officials from using personal email accounts, the Star said.”

Neither does US federal law. You just have to make sure that they’re kept for public records purposes.

“use by government officials of personal email for government business is permissible under the Federal Records Act, so long as relevant official communications, including all work-related emails, are preserved by the agency”

The issue all along was Hillary’s judgement about putting confidential government information through a privately run email server that hadn’t been vetted by the government for security. The issue with Pence is much the same, no?

But “It’s technically legal” is exactly the same defence Hillary used, so I guess we’ve got our example of the mirror effect.

If you recall the above Biggie then you must also recall how the whole caper was regarded by the scum of the left as no big deal when Killery did it.

As I said above, Trump should put them both on trial. Seems fair to me. We’ll see who has the most to lose.

  11. Matthew L,
I’m well aware of bias on both sides, but you don’t have your mirror yet.

As far as I recall, HRC broke some rules or laws relating to classified information. Beyond that, there delays, prevarications and untruths as her emails slowly emerged. And then there were the questions about motivation (Pay to Play for example).

So, at this stage, the stories are very different.

  12. “But “It’s technically legal” is exactly the same defence Hillary used, so I guess we’ve got our example of the mirror effect.”

Um aren’t you missing a bit here? Pence’s emails from his private account have just been released (less redactions) under an FOI request. Which means they were preserved as legally required, and made available when requested. I think we all know thats not the case with Hilary…………

  13. The important question is whether Pence was sending or receiving classified information. Hillary’s mistake wouldn’t have been so bad if it hadn’t involved material related to national security.

I’m a long way past caring though.

The issue all along was Hillary’s judgement about putting confidential government information through a privately run email server that hadn’t been vetted by the government for security.

    Narp.

It was because she set up a homebrew server specifically to dodge FOI requests so she could transact Clinton Foundation business through her public office, and then deleted 33,000 emails after receiving a subpoena telling her not to delete any emails. And destroyed federal property with hammers to try to frustrate an FBI investigation.

The whole thing is shadier than the guys from Enron starting a new business called Bob Maxwell Pension Corp.

Worth remembering that the Clintons – those stalwart tribunes of the poor – enriched themselves by over a quarter of a billion dollars in the past decade and a half. Not bad for a couple who haven’t had a real job in decades, and who were pleading poverty when they left the White House.

Why do you suppose various dictators gave them lavish cash “gifts”?

  15. Steve,
That’s harsh, as well as ungentlemanly.

HRC has devoted the last 30 odd years to Public Service, thus massively reducing her earning potential.

It’s true that she (and Bill, and indeed Chelsea), have become very rich over this period. However, these riches seem fair compensation for giving up the opportunity to make any money.

If “Public Service” means “reduced earning potential”, and it surely does, and if “reduced earning potential” then comes to mean “reduced earnings”, Public Service will not attract the talent we need. Is that what you want?

  16. I find the fact that Pence was using an AOL freemail account the most condemning. WTF? I’ve someone who mails me from one. Goes back to when AOL rationed mail accounts to one per subscriber. So it’s a “family” account that anyone in the family has access to. So I delight in copying him in when I’m distributing bits of “not in front of the children” smut.

  17. The Inimitable Steve

    Jack C – Eloquently put.

I now withdraw my previous statement and move that Hillary henceforward be known as “Poor-but-honest Hilldog”.

  18. Bloke in Wiltshire

I’m more disappointed that he’s still using AOL. Does he still use Netscape Navigator to go to Webcrawler to download really blocky porn too?

  19. When Hillary gets out of prison I’ll listen to complaints about Pence.

The Ctrl-Left completely forgive Hillary’s crimes, but jump on Pence’s non-crime.

    We live in surreal times.

  20. Utterly surreal.

Nothing has changed since last year, and you begin to suspect that Trump’s opponents actually WANT him re-elected.

I guess there’s a motive somewhere. If your own candidate wins, you have years of embarrassing compromises. If you lose, you have years ahead of delicious virtue-signalling.

The obviously co-ordinated Town Hall protests were another few electoral college votes gone. Flyover Americans, from the quite a lot I’ve seen, are utterly allergic to shouted opinions, and not just the flyover version either. .

  21. I think the difference is that Clinton didn’t use a word that can be found in a dictionary as her password.

  22. Isn’t the issue the preservation bit ; Hillary seemed I recall to have a lot of bad luck with hard drives, backup servers and so on that all conveniently vanished or were broken….

The language is important as ever “at times discussing sensitive matters and homeland security issues,”

sensitive matters means anything “homeland security issues” isn’t quite the same as Hillary’s position, is it ? It’s not like have security information on it. You can pretty much guarantee if these emails did have such issues it would be broadcast.

  23. ” Hillary seemed I recall to have a lot of bad luck with hard drives, backup servers and so on that all conveniently vanished or were broken….”

She certainly did a great advertising job for BitBleach…………….

  24. “Mr Pence communicated via his personal AOL account with top advisers on topics ranging from security gates at the governor’s residence to the state’s response to terrorism attacks across the globe.”

Because the views of the Governor of Indiana were what the world was desiring more than anything at the time of the terrorist outrage du jour.

‘OMG, terrorists have just killed over 100 people in Paris, quick, find out what Mike Pence thinks. Hack into his email if you have to!!!!’
