They are the bane of road users around the country, causing countless damage to cars and endless cycling accidents.
Now residents in one of the UK’s most well-to-do towns have taken a novel approach to dealing with the scourge of potholes opening up in their streets.
So-called ‘guerrilla gardeners’ are filling the cracks and craters in their roads with pretty flowers in a very peaceful protest.
Of course, this being Bath they’re not like those elsewhere, not at all, that would never do.
“…Bath and North East Somerset Council has received a £4.4 million grant to repair potholes this year.”
A grant..? WTAF?
I think this approach may prove to be more effective…

‘Course getting out there and shoveling some asphalt to actually, you know, *fix* the pothole – that won’t be done.
After all, that’s why we pay the government.
Agammamon,
At this point, the people of Bath should have learnt their lessons. They keep on voting for Lib Dems, more fool them.
Still, the various festivals are nice, so, thanks, Bath peeps.
‘Course getting out there and shoveling some asphalt to actually, you know, *fix* the pothole – that won’t be done.</em?
£10 says that's illegal and plod would be round within hours.
Fucked up HTML. Sorry.
Does this actually help?
Will workmen not spend longer having to remove the soil from the hole?
Does any residual soil left in the hole bugger up the quality of the repair so it doesn’t last as long?
@BiW – current B&NES administration is Tory, having been NOC from 1995-2015; even the MP is now a Tory, the “notoriously thirsty” (to quote Guido Fawkes) Ben Howlett
“Will workmen not spend longer having to remove the soil from the hole?”
Marginally. But any pothole will quickly collect all manner of detritus needs removing before a repair. If you don’t, you don’t get a good “key” with the road substrate & it can compress, so depressing the repair & putting you on the road to the next pothole appearing.
BiW: A quick Google shows the Conservatives are in control in Bath & NES.

Very and big fines. The access to my drive has a problem with heave that has affected the road. The council are all over the repair to ensure that the effected road bit is repaired correctly with dire warnings if it isn’t. (Fortunately I don’t own it).
Flatcap Army,

I was specifically thinking of the councillors in Bath rather than in the rest of BANES. The rest of it seems to be very blue.
