That shouting fire in a crowded theatre thing

About 1,000 people were injured in the Italian city of Turin after a firecracker provoked a stampede on Saturday night, police say.
Thousands of football fans were watching a live relay of Juventus’ Champions League final against Real Madrid in Cardiff when a bang was heard and rumours of an explosion spread.
At least two people, including a seven-year-old child, were seriously hurt.

There have been truly horrendous occurrences of this over the centuries. A crowd of human beings in a panic is a very dangerous thing.

  1. Only a dickhead football supporter would let a firecracker off in a crowd during a terrorist alert. A Darwinist might shake his head at the lack of fatalities

  2. So Much For Subtlety

Unfortunately, from a Darwinian perspective, the people who threw this likely survived.

  3. Dunno, SMfS. Reducing the number of soccer aficionados on the planet could be regarded as an evolutionary advantage, in itself.

  4. Bloke in North Dorset

Well some stupid did let off a flare gun at a rock concert, so it’s not just football fans. But I suppose it did give us one of the most iconic, and annoying if you work in a music shop, guitar riffs.
