As for the peerage – it was Labour who wanted to use it as a tax dodge. I turned it down
The thought that he turned down vermine doesn’t strike me as plausible.
But what tax dodge?

I think it works something like this:
Had Spud been on the payroll, he would have been paid but:
But he wasn’t so he wasn’t. However, they wouldn’t have wanted to pay him in money because he would have charged VAT so they would have offered him a peerage in lieu of cash hence:
But since they weren’t going to acknowledge his genius with either cash or vermine, Corbyn saved himself cash, VAT and vermine. Which equates as near as damn it to:
in an empty room by himself when he realised there would be nothing doing.
So then:
And so were they
If any of Spud’s idiot followers can be turned against Corbog so much the better.
He’s discovering what the Mafia discovered 50 years ago with the Kennedys.
@ Custard Cream
The Mafia is Sicilian. In the USA they have “Cosa Nostra”, which I understand to be the Italian translation of Sinn Fein, one of Joe and Teddy Kennedy’s pet causes.
“What is more I wrote nothing for Corbyn – he borrowed it all without asking.”
Richard was so disgusted by the misappropriation of his ideas he stayed well clear of Corbyn as you can see clearly here:

Maybe he’s realised if he accepts political vermin that fucks up his claimed non polical status, making grants harder to get?
BiND: Maybe he would sit as a cross-bencher?
BiND – non-political status for someone who writes…
…is stretching a point rather.
Murph’s self-justification fetish is pitiable.
Wonder if The Omniscient Tuber would like some hard cheese with his sour grapes?
Evidently he’s become convinced that he’ll never get ermine no matter what he does.
As a member of ICAEW he has to report under AML rules. It’s a disciplinary offence not to. Might be a bit of bribery legislation in there too.
Of course, ICAEW won’t touch it with a barge pole, too political.
But those most in favour of State Laws are those most likely to ignore them.
See Harman and Balls, failure to stop after an accident.
It’s quite common for children who desperately want something to loudly exclaim how they could have had it but turned it down. Most people grow out of it.
@MatthewL
Just as most people grow out of socialism once their frontal lobes are fully developed and they gain long term thinking.

That isn’t just political, it’s wibblingly insane.
“See Harman and Balls, failure to stop after an accident.
This applies to everyone. I tell you this from nappy changing experience.
Murphy said previously the peerage was to allow him to advise McDonnell without a salary i.e. get the taxpayer to pay. He would have been a Labour peer so would presumably have lost his grants from charitable trusts. With his ego I suspect he wanted a fat salary and a peerage hence the tantrums.
Peerage = £300 a day tax free allowance if you turn up.
It take only a day or so to realise they and I had no chance of co-existing and I was right
I expect it took them considerably less time than that.
Oh, and the idea that a peerage was offered and he refused is laughable. Doesn’t pass the sniff test at all.
Gossip has it – good gossip, trusted source – that he got the City job by arguing that he was about to be a peer.
Which would explain why he is now just so gushing about the people he meets in Brussels. That’s where the money for the next job is coming from.
Isn’t the City job now just a way of laundering grants that have to go to an institution?
