Income tax, NICs and VAT raise almost two-thirds of current tax receipts. Unfortunately there’s no breakdown of NICs. On the latest figures available, only 4% of individuals leave an inheritance tax liability, and 70% of that comes from estates in excess of £1m. While tax receipt other than income tax are more opaque, the top half of households (based on income) are believed to account for 78% of total receipts. The probability that any household in the bottom half (income wise) would ever pay £25k is of course fanciful; they enjoy lifestyles well beyond their means.

The AIA is even more of a laughing stock in the profession than CIMA, which is very much the bottom of the pile of the Institutes. The AIA is merely an association, unable to award chartered status, I believe
As an aside, the AIA has about 9,500 full members in the entire world. The ICAEW, the professional body that refuses to recognise Ritchie’s genius, has nearly 150,000 in England and Wales. This is like when Corbyn fans started announcing that he’d won The Gandhi Prize, which is nothing to do with Mahatma Gandhi at all

He simply means “his” press release, the one right there on his blog..:) And which is – word for word – identical to AIA’s except for the substitution of Mr Hambly for himself.

It is interesting that his bio on the AIA site doesn’t call him a tax expert. It’s as if not even they would consider him an expert
It’s also interesting that they refer to him as “Mr” Murphy in that list and his fake PR says “Prof”.
Interesting that his very first act on induction is to falsify a press release from the institution he just joined.

It’s normal to write your own bio for anyone who needs one of you.
Since when does anyone crow about being an honorary member of anything? It’s often awarded so the organisation can benefit by being associated with the name (see Peston, Hodge the Dodge). Or as a reward for services rendered without actually paying you.
