Adam Smith Institute and Adam Smith International

Dirty tricks of aid barons paid millions of our money: RICHARD PENDLEBURY analyses the work of the Adam Smith Institute

Adam Smith International, the fattest of Britain’s foreign aid fat-cat contractors, remains defiant, if not entirely convincing.

AS International is an entirely different organisation from AS Institute.

There was a common origin but there’s been no connection for decades.

ASI, which has its headquarters close to Blackfriars bridge in central London, remains at the centre of this disquiet over ‘profiteering’ in the world’s trouble spots. The firm was founded in 1992, arising from, but unconnected to, the Right-of-Centre Adam Smith Institute think-tank.

Quite so. That headline needs to change a bit, no?

  1. Bloke in North Dorset

Didn’t this happen a couple of years ago, only that time the allegations were a bit more serious?

  2. I have somewhere an Adam Smith International mug I was given at an Adam Smith Insitute event, 7 or 8 years ago maybe? They said they’d had a clearout and found loads of old stuff, so no idea how lobg it had been sitting in their cupboard.

  3. It’s worth the ASI lawyers pointing out that 90% of people who look at that story will only read the defamatory headline because just to the right of it is something about Kelly Brook’s tits….

  4. Solid Steve 2: Squirrels of The Patriots

Allegations that the firm managed a £12million UK Government scheme which poured money into a brutal, jihadi-dominated ‘justice’ system in rebel-held Syria is simply the latest in a succession of ASI scandals.

To be fair, studies have shown that the rate of reoffending among shoplifters who’ve had their hands chopped off is near zero.
