Just the sort of the story you could have used in today’s ASI blog. Theophrastus December 22, 2017 at 10:05 am Interesting. I wonder why the legions of state-employed social workers and charity support workers never thought of this… Mr Ecks December 22, 2017 at 10:07 am Can Amazon send them as presents? Christmas is practically here and our friends at the Guardian already have everything else. Andrew C December 22, 2017 at 10:09 am @Mr Ecks It would take a heart of stone not to laugh. JuliaM December 22, 2017 at 10:21 am ’A key card is needed to access the machine and recipients have to attend local support services once a week to keep it activated.’ Why not give them the supplies when they visit? What actual purpose does this serve, Apart from a great big advertising slogan on the streets f… Ah. Answered my own question. The Mole December 22, 2017 at 10:32 am @JuliaM My guess is that the machine contains vaguely fresh food (sometimes at least) and storing a weeks worth of food and water isn’t exactly easy when all you have is a cardboard box. It also means they can’t eat all the food immediately. Though that said I don’t know why they feel the need to put in bottles of water, it would be far more practical just to install a drinking fountain next to it and use refillable bottles. Similarly perhaps just install a fridge in the security office at the shopping centre (sure to be manned 24/7 anyway) which would be far simpler/cheaper and have the benefit of some human contact. So yes a great big advertising slogan/pr stunt does seem to be the main purpose Mr Yan December 22, 2017 at 12:11 pm Wonder how long the shopping centre will host this once pissed up tramps start throwing up next to it and annoying their customers? zut alors December 22, 2017 at 1:17 pm But where would you keep him? Dennis the Peasant December 22, 2017 at 7:06 pm Good to see the wogs are going down the same road as such earthly paradises as San Diego and San Fransisco. Hope you guys like Hep A and shit on your sidewalks. Agammamon December 22, 2017 at 8:52 pm “zut alors December 22, 2017 at 1:17 pm But where would you keep him?” Outside, of course.
