And that’s just bollocks. More is spent now on that social safety net than was then.
From my observations people only look at what the Federal government does and forget State budgets. I suspect in most cases it’s simple ignorance, but in a few cases it’s likely to be malicious. I don’t know which this one falls in to but having waded through the diatribe I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the latter.

White men are pretty much the only productive part of the US population – East Asians as well. Women are parasites on the men. “People of Colour” are as well. Women of Colour even more so.
Of course welfare spending is going to be grossly disproportionately in favour of non-White Women. They continue to hold the US back and impose massive costs on everyone else. As someone once said, if Americans realised how “People of Colour” were going to turn out, they would have picked their own damn cotton. Worst decision ever.

The media is largely fake news and have been repeatedly caught out lying or at least stating as fact opinions that have no connection with reality. It is Trump and his supporters who are inhabiting reality. Not his detractors. As this article proves. As for KAC’s comment, she is entitled to bring up the facts that the media chooses to ignore. But now, it feels all too real, with Trump delivering on the economic core of his vision. He has slashed regulations that protect workers, walked away from the Trans-Pacific Partnership,
A trade deal that the Guardian and its hysterical bed wetters were opposed to until about the day before yesterday. As for those regulations, all they did was benefit lawyers. Now the American economy is growing at nearly 4%. Black employment is at historic highs – except for one brief period in the Clinton administration, this many Blacks have not been employed since Carter was in office.

Oh. My. God. Trump said something bad about Obamacare? The horror! The horror! The problem here is the limited grasp of reality among the bed wetting community. Not Trump’s problem.
Finally, in a dramatic “win” for his administration, the Republicans last week passed a major tax overhaul that slashes taxes primarily for the wealthy and is projected to create an almost $1.5tn dollar deficit.
So deficits do matter? Again until about the day before yesterday the Left was insisting that they did not. In fact I work with a buffoon who insists that Trump’s deficits are evil but that the EU’s austerity in Greece is an abomination and only more spending will work. How he can hold both these views at the same time I do not know.
But the New Deal was wildly popular, so conservatives sold their reactionary economic vision by enlisting white racism.
This is what is known as Fantasy. The Democrats were and are the party of racism. The Republicans were and are the party of the NAACP and the Civil Rights Bill.
Ronald Reagan, with his derision of the welfare queen and his mantra that “government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem”, rode that racist anti-government cowboy image into the White House

Sounds great. I would prefer a cadre of unelected hereditary peers but businessmen will do.
When Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore put on his cowboy hat and rode his horse to the polls in Alabama in December, he was deliberately embodying Republican individualist principles.
And he was soundly rejected by the entire Republican party. Fake news indeed.
At the same time, the Republican vision defined women primarily as wives and mothers and suggested that since men took care of their dependants, any woman protesting against her deteriorating conditions was demanding special legislation.
I wish they would. But they haven’t. Has anyone heard a Republican saying anything remotely like this? Delusion again.

One powerful man after another fell before what is not simply a pushback against sexual assault, but is a rejection of the worldview that privileged dominant men.

He has shown astonishing disregard for the law, flouting nepotism and emoluments rules and treating regular government procedures, including the authority of Congress, with disdain.
What nepotism and emolument rules would these be? Would these be the fantasy of a small number of left wing activist lawyers? Why yes they would. These cases have been tossed as fast as they can be filed. Regular government procedures? You mean like Sally Yates did? Like Mueller and Comey did?
He has tried to undermine the FBI and American intelligence agencies, shows a disturbing affinity for Putin and Russian oligarchs, and has tried to undermine the authority of special counsel, Robert Mueller, charged with examining the role of Russia in the 2016 election.
It is now obvious that Russia has no role in the election and the FBI and Mueller are doing an outstanding job of thoroughly undermining themselves. The delusions continue.
Pathetic really.

The New Deal was about running deficits while paying lip service to a balanced budget. I think the Republicans are doing more of that.
